Last summer, Dwyane Wade terminated a contract that would have paid $20,164,000 this season and $21,655,000 next season.

He signed a new deal that pays $15 million this season and $16,125,000 next season.

Both contracts included player options for next season, and Wade initially said he wouldn’t opt out. That likely pleased the Heat, who’d prefer to maximize their cap room in 2016 – when the salary cap skyrockets, Hassan Whiteside hits unrestricted free agency and other premier free agents (ahem, Kevin Durant) explore the market.

But Wade is considering opting out, presumably to recoup some of the money he gave up last summer.

So, he and Miami are discussing a new contract. It’s apparently not going well.

They have no chances in the near future. Might as well pony up and keep the man whose jersey they will retire.

Pat is actually smart for doing this. I've seen GM's hand out ridiculous contracts to players on their last legs. No one forced Wade to take a paycut, onus is on him.

That's bad on MIA. When Wade does you a favor so you can do what you need to do, you don't then use it as leverage once the terms change.

Wade though obviously isn't Duncan or Dirk and isn't willing to take less to win. If he gets more money, it hurts them, but that's his choice. He should not cry at all about his surroundings if they pay him.

People will still sign in MIA, don't be crazy. It's just a tough situation. Wade needs a lot more talent around him to win and they can't do that paying him 20M a year. Just can't. But Wade did his part by taking less and I guess it's ok to want that money back.

Ya, that's what Dwight said. What Pau said. What Melo said....oh wait, literally no one wanted to play with LA and actually took less money to leave.

Duncan won a le while Kobe started a twitter account to defend himself. I'd say Duncan was smart. Admitting the team you love sucks even with Kobe.

That literally makes no sense. Just like you saying people saw LA took care of Kobe and they would want to sign. They didn't want to sign. They saw how the franchise is run by idiots and had no chance at winning and took less money elsewhere to play.

already had 5. That's loser talk. So it's ok to suck when you have 5? Nah, that's Laker fan logic and why they bought being contenders with Kobe and Byron Scott
