Neither want to be wolves, we have the leverage.
There have been rumors surrounding the top two picks since the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers were named as the top two teams in the NBA Draft. Karl-Anthony Towns is the top prospect to most scouts, but T-Wolves general manager and head coach Flip Saunders reportedly prefers Jahlil Okafor.
– Have you seen the ‘Lakers Nation’ phone case? –
The Lakers would love to get Towns, and if Saunders truly wants Okafor, it may be beneficial to move down, something that may be a possibility according to ESPN’s Chad Ford:
I think Flip see’s Okafor as a major post up presence on offense — a major need of the Wolves. But you’re right. Towns has more strengths than Okafor, fewer weaknesses (if any) and I think he’s a better fit with Gourgi Dieng and Pekovic. No question Towns can play some four in the NBA and be a nightmare match-up [...] But we’re still three weeks away. Lots of homework going on. I think the Wolves will eventually decide to take him 1, or perhaps swap with the Lakers and try to pick up another asset.
The Lakers could pair their 27th or 34th overall pick with the second overall pick to move up to the top spot. They could even throw in a player such as Nick Young if the Timberwolves wanted a player as well. It would make sense for the Timberwolves to pick up another asset if they truly are set on Okafor.
Mitch Kupchak says it’s unlikely the team would bring in three rookies so sacrificing one of their other picks to grab Towns would make a lot of sense. Whether the T-Wolves would really consider doing that remains to be seen, but it may be something worth looking out for.

I told you out the gate I'd trade our pick. If Im forced to choose then its Ok... no one else.
Whose ever idea this was should be beaten with a good sized stick.
Agreed. In typical media fashion it favors LA while making no sense for the other guy g'd it!
Without whose you're light 2 NBA banners.
Let me cut the sapling & commissed a beatin'. I play no favorites. When JB s up like this, it's whippin' time.
If we draft that gotdamn inbred from Kentucky I'm just going to go away...
Towns is awkward but Im not feelin Okafor. He's in line to become another member of Hack-A-Big men clan. Problem is I don't see him being a dominating force, to me he's not worth it.
I'd rather trade the second pick if we're getting Okie tbh, or maybe just draft Russell.
Pimp... listen to me. You know... when you go through a pussy drought it makes perfect sense to go out and just anything... just to get ya wet. That's what they say. Not me... Keep your ing standards high and ride out the drought. Lord knows... you may get her ass pregnant... then what? Ugly women don't have abortions... they keep those little bas s.
You draft Russell & WWIII will commence.
Trade it, though everyone will low ball us.
Can you blame them? The Wolves have to be the worst franchise in the NBA.

Russel can't hit the back side of the barn with his delayed release.
I'll never forget David Kahn drafting 3 point guards in one draft..
Not so. Teams are going to be eager to free themselves of debt for next season's free for all.
None of them panned out.
why don't wolves just pick who they want? they have the top pick in the draft. this is stupid
And two of them ahead of Steph Curry![]()
You don't pick until 13, who is going to trade you for that pick?
good stuff tbh
Any rate, we have options affter 2 yrs of not having that, it's I trust they'll make a sound decision.
It's bad enough we got the #2 pick...but can yall imagine how salty Spur fan would be if they traded us the #1 pick becuase they were too chicken to make a decision...
To be fair though...I don't think many people had Steph Curry at MVP/Best Player in the League levels out of Davidson. But I'm foring @ David Kahn again...
