Am I the only guy who thinks this will be a massive boost to the Dubs? I think they'll be legit contenders next season if everyone stays healthy (big if for half the players on that team tho).

Mark Jackson was their biggest obstacle to winning, and now he's gone to preach elsewhere.

Unproven Steve Kerr is getting paid 25 mil(more than he made as a player) to coach in Cali(GOAT state) where his family is. Incredible. Man, I can't even hate on him.

And they gave Kerr a five year, $25 Million dollar contract as well? WTF?
    This right here, I said!

I like Kerr, but handing a guy who has never spent a second on an NBA coaching bench a 5 year contract is borderline re ed. I know that's not politically correct to say, but that's how stupid it is.

Analytics couldn't save Morey and his Rockets from Portland though
    Exactly.

And analytics say that coaching doesn't really matter and you could pretty much do away with the midrange game. Look how both those principles ended up working for us. There is no way you could use numbers to portray the entire context, how defenses switch, how players play with more intensity, how coaches instill discipline into their players...I just can't stand those ing sta s.

Everybody got excited about Kerr when Phil Jackson showed interest,,,,everyone saying Kerr learned under Phil Jackson and Pop and therefore a prodigy unlike all others,,,but I beg to differ,,,,I go for Robert Horry right now if I'm Phil Jackson. Arguably the most clutch player with the game on the line in NBA history, 7 rings, learned under Tomjanovich, Phil Jackson, and Pop,,,,played with Hakeem, Shaq, Kobe, and Duncan. His pedigree is much better than Kerr's if youre looking for an unproven coach to invest in but I wouldn't put it past PJ to go full on for Ollie to screw the Lakers and open the door for Durant to New York.
Besides having never expressed an interest in coaching, Horry is too lazy now to be a coach!

The league is currently obsessed with hiring ex players as coaches.

    http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/stor...ing-steve-kerr

Kerr, Shaw, and now Fischer? Doc Rivers is wildly overrated, Mark Jackson is a cancer, Jason Kidd is just lmao, Shaw was exposed. Meanwhile, you got proven coaches out there who aren't even being considered.

Rockets have arguably the worst coach in the NBA and their star player is arguably the biggest choker in the league today, tbh..

The NBA is diverting from the isolation brand of basketball..there were 6 teams that were far ahead of the pack in isolation-oriented offense in 2013-14: New Orleans, Golden State, New York, OKC, Houston and Brooklyn..

Two of those coaches have already been fired and Scott Brooks will be fired if OKC doesn't make the Finals..Monty Williams is one of the tiest coaches in the league, but ownership won't let him go until his contract is up..

Kidd's job is safe, since he's a rookie coach..

McHale is the only other "safe" coach, I assume it's because their front office is afraid of player reaction to his potential dismissal..

Warriors Management are a bunch of ing re s. What was the point of firing Mark Jackson to then go hire another Rookie Head Coach? Kerr is basically in the same position Jackson was in 3 years ago.
Yeah make the Warriors Golden State Suns already
Have to give it to Phil though. He's penny pinching everyone these days. He already implied or assumed Melo will take a pay cut so we'll see how that one goes.

Kerr isn't a huge loss, so is Melo.
And they gave Kerr a five year, $25 Million dollar contract as well? WTF?
    Warriors ed up, tbh....
Lol at people laughing at KFC

you think Kerr will be a good coach?
    hiring another commentator
I would not be surprised if from now on, Warriors lose every game to the Thunder
Knicks don't need a neophyte talker as a coach and Phil is holding out for coach Pop.
Lateral move for the warriors it would seem.
Evidently all you need is to be a former player, well spoken and WHITE to get owners to think you know what youre doing.

This is the same guy who hired Terry ing Porter as his own head coach (worst coach Ive ever seen). This is the guy who traded Shawn Marion for the corpse of Shaq. This is the same guy who urged Mike D'Antoni to "throw it into Amare in the post more often".

But kudos to him. 25 million bucks. Thats probably more than he made as a player.

But then again how hard can it be to draw up plays for Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, the two best shooters in the league? The Warriors have a number of weapons on their team and Kerr has offensive guru Alvin Gentry at his side as well. Props to Kerr for doing a great job this season, but let's not act like he was put in some brutal situation.

Kerr has studied analytics in basketball the past few years, which immediately makes him an upgrade over most of the coaches in the league, tbh..

Mark Jackson was one of the 5 worst coaches in the league..he took a team full of passers/shooters and turned them into the 4th most ISO-reliant teams in the entire league..not to mention alienating players that weren't ignorant Christians..

He took a team with a second round ceiling on the cusp of a championship.

He wasn't exactly in a situation, but they weren't going to do a lot of either without him.

Trading for Shaq and his 20 mil a year contract made sure that the Lakers won the West by a large margin in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
