Regarding the GOAT debate, some years ago (before Messi exploded) FIFA selected the top 4 players ever:

-Distefano played from 1945 to 1966.
-Pele played from 1956 to 1977
-Cruyff played from 1964 to 1984
-Maradona played from 1976 to 1997

All of these guys were the unquestionable best player of their respective era like Messi is now. That's why every non-biased GOAT discussion revolves around these 5 players.
