I like Matthews, but he won't get that much money. And Portland probably spends more than people are willing to pay (given his injury) to keep him. If his injury is serious enough that he is not the same, then I have to wonder what Portland is thinking. Why do they give so much money to players that are ticking timebombs for career ending injuries?

GL to the team giving him that much tbh. Agents will try to squeeze as much money as they can before signing a long-term deal right before the new TV deal.

I don't see WM getting that much coming off an injury.

It's called negotiating. The fact he "wants" $15M doesn't mean he won't settle for less. I want $25M too!

Do you ever pay asking price on a vehicle??? No. 15 mil is his asking price. Anyone not named New York Knicks will talk him down until the price, value, and wallet match. Sheesh, you all are harsh on the poor young man!

He's not a better player than Green. He's a finished player who will probably have a marginal career for 2-3 years and then teams will no longer be willing to throw money at him based on once being good.
If you're talking about his injury we'll have to wait and see. He was significantly better than Green up until his Achilles injury.

I see that Portland has been easy on their drug testing throughout the year.

And he's pretty likely to be significantly worse than Green after the injury. Let the Lakers pay for past accomplishments.

I agree. I think pre-injury Matthews was worth around $15m, and my point is Green is worse than pre injury Matthews which puts him around $10-12m.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to argue against that with the contracts Gordon Hayward and Chandler Parsons got.

He'll be lucky to get half of that. If you're going to shoot for the moon might as well ask for a max deal.
