Ups and they keep repeat offending. Best to just own a gun and if anyone is beating, raping, robbingm, etc you or anyone you are close to just send em to on the spot. Much cheaper for us all tbh.
The government has tried to deport most of these people, but a Supreme Court ruling requires they be released after six months in jail if their home country won't take them back.
what kind of logic is this? so you're a sex offender and your home country won't take you back. so, 6 months and you're free in the U.S.? with no monitoring?

it's ed up. if you shot an illegal that was raping someone, my guess is that you'd be labeled a racist and convicted of a hate crime.

Locking up immigrants is a hugely profitable business, taxpayers paying, for the PIC that gives heavily to Congress and state legislatures.

AFAIK, this is how it works:
1) <Illegal Immigrant> commits sexual crime
2) <Illegal Immigrant> is found guilty and convicted, declared sex-offender
3) <Illegal Immigrant> goes to jail
4) <Illegal Immigrant> is deported (if possible), when his sentence is over. If he's deported, stop here. Otherwise, continue
5) <Illegal Immigrant> has to self-report anytime his primary residence changes
If you're a US Citizen, replace <Illegal Immigrant> with <US Citizen>, and skip step 4.
In other words, deportation is just a process that comes after any sentence as been completed, and if it fails, then the person is released under the same rules and conditions that would apply any US Citizen sex offender.
Except that the illegal is more unlikely to register and report as a sex offender and at that point becomes much harder (if not impossible) to track as opposed to a U.S. Citizen.
And if they are convicted in their home country and not in the U.S., they 1) often can't get deported and 2) are eventually released in the U.S.
The law still applies the same, AFAIK. Failure to self-report is a crime and is punished as such.
If an alien was convicted in their home country, then all the US government can do is deny him a visa, which they do. But if the person decides to cross the river, then there's not much to do until they get caught.
I'm not sure how you want the system to work?

The official process for applying for a visa (or harder, citizenship) to the US is a and does take into account an applicant's criminal history insofar as it can be adapted to US penal code. What you're really saying is you're uncomfortable with the fact that so many immigrants can skirt US immigration policy illegally and get in on the sly, unvetted. So the question becomes: how much money are you willing to spend -- and how many freedoms are you willing to sacrifice -- to make the country "impermeable?" I know this sounds unethical and heartless, but I'll take the stray sex offender/criminal running amok to the prospect of paying trillions for the privilege of living in a totalitarian "papers please" country where only subjectively nice people are allowed to live. Not advocating for this, but it would be cheaper to naturalize any and all immigrants than it would be to seal the borders and process/track everyone inside.
I don't agree that it would take trillions and a totalitarian state to improve the system. We don't need impermeable. But we need something better than we have.

Seriously though, I don't know that it's fixable. I don't want to live in a Big Brother state where everything is tracked but the more things deteriorate, the closer we are to getting to that point. We have or will soon have the technology to monitor everyone 24/7. At this point, I don't see that we can avoid it.
