It seems more realistic Atlanta giving us #15 for Splitter than OKC..

Given the distribution "tiers" of quality players in this first round, 14 seems like an odd point in the draft to seek out.

If they want a high draft pick they may be spreading false info on exactly which one.

I know this won't happen but I just had a dumb fantasy of us doing a trade with the Thunder (Splitter, Mills, I dunno whatever the 14th pick takes) for the sake of clearing space for a definite confirmed LMA arrival and then Willie Cauley-Stein somehow slipping down to us.

Perhaps not as odd as 15 where we got you know who. If they have a trade of a player or players to get to 14, I'd be excited because it means they think they have someone in mind who could be a tremendous value down the road.

Spurs are trying to set up as many contingency trades as they can. In that regard, they are like every other franchise. Every year, they probably have a half-dozen or so blockbuster trades lined up that get defused by one side or the other. Remember that the Pacers almost traded Paul George to the Spurs in 2010.

I don't remember that at all.

It was in a Grantland article about the Leonard trade. The Pacers were willing to trade 10 for Hill in 2010, but they changed their minds because Granger gave such a glowing appraisal of George.

As far as I remember, Indy had interest in George Hill back in 2010, but they refused to trade for him because they liked their options with the 10th pick better (they liked both George and Ed Davis) and Bird had the final word taking PG.

I also remember some rumors about Indy willing to trade Granger + the 10th pick for Favors and Harris but BK said no.
