Southtown is chill.
Hi guys, I'll be in San Antonio for the next 4 months for ait. Any spots you can recommend for sightseeing and places for hanging out where there's no trouble waiting to happen? Thanks
What's there in south town? I'm looking for places to eat and have quiet drinks with buddies.
Bars and restaurants all in walking distance.
Blue star complex (brewery, resturant, bars)
Friendly spot, Beethoven german, Alamo eat, rosario, bar america, azuca, starfish, hot joy, feast, liberty bar resturant, B n D bbq , la tuna, Guenther house, other places I can't remember. Like I said it's a chill hangout
Are you LaMarcus Alderidge by chance?
The East side is very nice. Martin Luther King Drive is a great street to go sightseeing on, especially in a 2015 Mercedes or Audi.
Don't forget the Farmer's market on Cherry Street.
Yeah he should check out the Wheatley Courts while he's there and slow down to a stall to check out the renowned architecture.
Lol no. Doing ait in Ft. Sam Houston for 4 months, Spurs aside, I wanna experience and enjoy SA.
I remember smoking weed in high school and driving by the middle school there and 2 ambulances were posted up.![]()
No love for Cascabel right across the street from Rosarios? That place is way better.
I think they're tearing Wheatley Courts down.
Are you going to have a car? There are some amazing BBQ joints in Lockhart and Luling which are easy hour drives from SA. I have heard nothing but great things about Franklin's in Austin also, but I'm not waiting two hours in line for a ing brisket. Port Aransas is a 2-3 hour drive and great wadefishing down there. For camping I really like Lost Maples which is a couple hours outside of town, though the best is taking a weekend to go camp at Big Bend National Park, though it's a long drive.
The east side if you wanna paintball.....with real bullets.
All the more reason that OP must visit while he's in town.
Never been but always wanted to check it out. I personally don't like rosarios but that's a big destination for ppl when they come into town..along with mi tierra.
Awesome interior Mexican, only downside is they close at 4PM. I love Mi Tierra's bakery, the food is kind of hit or miss, though I like their cabrito in arbol salsa.
Good, I hope the roaches get a new home then.
Always makes me laugh when I'm driving down Durango and see this nice area where Victoria Courts used to be.![]()
Yes, Housing Authority is buying them out. They are replacing with a planned development.
Apartments and townhouses. 6 blks..huge project
No sir, we aren't supposed to drive, which is a bummer. Do you know anything closer though? Im
concerned about curfews and stuff, although I don't know yet how they work out the passes for ait.
