"The Supreme Court has spoken with a very divided voice on something only the Supreme Being can do-redefine marriage.

I will not acquiesce to an imperial court any more than our Founders acquiesced to an imperial British monarch. We must resist and reject judicial tyranny, not retreat.

"This ruling is not about marriage equality, it's about marriage redefinition.

This irrational, uncons utional rejection of the expressed will of the people in over 30 states will prove to be one of the court's most disastrous decisions, and they have had many.

The only outcome worse than this flawed, failed decision would be for the President and Congress, two co-equal branches of government, to surrender in the face of this out-of-control act of uncons utional, judicial tyranny."

"The Supreme Court can no more repeal the laws of nature and nature's God on marriage than it can the law of gravity.

Under our Cons ution, the court cannot write a law, even though some cowardly politicians will wave the white flag and accept it without realizing that they are failing their sworn duty to reject abuses from the court.

If accepted by Congress and this President, this decision will be a serious blow to religious liberty, which is the heart of the First Amendment."

crazily, Kennedy, ex-corporate lawyer/lobbbyist, can also write like this in Citizens-United vs FEC

"For the reasons explained above, we now conclude that independent expenditures, including those made by corporations, do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption. "

From an evolutionary point of view, this is probably the beginning of the end for sexuality - assuming it is a genetically inherited trait (likely), and not a recurrent mutation (highly unlikely).

It would be a fascinating thing to observe over the next couple millennia.

The majority opinion in West Virginia Board of Education v. Barnette has long been a favorite of mine, as a civil libertarian, because it recognizes so much of the basic truth of the anti-majoritarian model the Cons ution establishes. Among the best parts of that opinion is the recognition (echoed today by Justice Kennedy's majority) that:

The idea of the Cons ution “was to withdraw certain subjects from the vicissitudes of political controversy, to place them beyond the reach of majorities and officials and to establish them as legal principles to be applied by the courts.” West Virginia Bd. of Ed. v. Barnette, 319 U. S. 624, 638 (1943). This is why “fundamental rights may not be submitted to a vote; they depend on the outcome of no elections.” Ibid.

When a right is fundamental, we don't get to vote about who enjoys that right.

    Marriage is a fundamental right.
But living without being forced to pay a tax isn't apparently. That's why they keep approving Obamacare.

So you have a god given fundamental right to marry whoever you want but no fundamental right to simply exist without paying a tax. Gotcha.

    Real consistent there SCOTUS.

It's more likely that it's just a bunch of people with low self esteem who looked at too much porn and wondered what it would feel like to stick something up their butt.

It's amazingly funny and sad at the same time how people ignore the health consequences of sodomy. Amazing how humans keep committing the same mistakes again and again since our creation. Mention the truth about AIDS and Gay Bowel Syndrome and get labeled a bigot. at Google deleting all their gay disease pics after this announcement. Maybe if we censor the internet, the diseases will go away.

My gay cousin can't hold his anymore, and he has been operated twice in his intestines since he was 25(he's now 32). It's sad, but they did it to themselves.

It's sad and disgusting. Tbh. The media or whoever paint this beautiful picture of sexuality when in reality it is full of gross and harmful acts.

sodomy isn't peculiar to sexuality. it's not even the most distinctive thing about it.

you sure seem to be stuck on it, though.
