The Los Angeles Lakers are attempting to create significantly more salary cap space to pursue free agent deals to both LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan.
ESPN's Kevin Pelton writes that the Lakers would have to trade away everyone on their roster short of Kobe Bryant to create enough space to sign both Aldridge and Jordan to their full max contracts.
The Lakers could conceivably sign Aldridge and Jordan to two-year deals with a second-year player option for below the max and then sign both players in 2016 to max deals using cap space. The Lakers will not have Bird Rights for either player.
The Lakers have gone full re if they try to do this.
They finally have a youth movement going, and once again, they're willing to piss it away for "name" players.
If they do this ...SMFH
Have to agree. Kevin reiterated, "everyone" meaning that includes Randle and D'Angelo's rookie contract.
Stupid rumor most likely, though I won't be surprised if it happens.
Keep in mind Jim dug his own grave when he publicly guaranteed the Lakers will be contenders in a span of 2-3 years or he'll step down.
If true, I bet the game plan is lure 2 sought after FA as a foundation, when Kobe's contract comes off the books next season, Lakers go hard after Kevin Durant plus another 2 way player.
No you got it wrong...we keep Russell Clarkson...this is the scenario that could net us both big men..

I'd have to look closely - but if Aldridge IS leaving would Blazers want Julius Randle, Ryan Kelly, Nick Young + say Wes Johnson?

Math at least workable if the Trail Blazers wanted to participate in a sign and trade, sending Aldridge to LA after they sign Jordan?

Quote: People in the room tonight for the Lakers' pitch to LaMarcus Aldridge: Jeanie Buss, Kobe, Byron Scott, Kupchak + James Worthy.
Read my post above and stop posting old ..Randle would be included in a S&T numnuts....we'd have the space since DJ only wants a 3yr deal..if we can sell him they're both ours
But we need to get Kobe #6...didnt u know thats the only goal of our franchise?
Now you're speaking my language
6 with this![]()
If we can keep Russell, then I'd be down for that. Russell, DJ, LMA and a max player next year could help the Lakers back in the hunt.
Someone suggested if the Lakers trades both Young and Kelly, the cap space balloons to abt $30 million.
A future role player and 3 scrubs out of the league in 2 seasons. Gonna be a tough one. Work your magic Mitch.![]()
And thank god he's gonna re-up for another maxer next summer. Bless you, Kirbz.
Actually I think its helping...tremendously.....even if these guys take a few mill less they know the Lakers will take care of them....they proved it by putting their money where their mouth was....look at what Miami is doing to Wade....there's a buzz around us right now..and players see it....even if we dont land a free agent I think we will make a huge splash next season....I want Durant at all costs tbh
they really took care of Pau after he dragged that got to two les
tbh
The Lakers are pretty much set for now. That's about $45 million in capspace if he's off the books by this season.
1 more year.
tbh I'm surprised y'all aren't jerking off over that NBA execs' comments about expecting Westbrook/Harden to team up in LA in 2018
For realthe only Laker they took care of was Kobe his entire career, no other player has ever been taken care of by LA since Kobe's been there
