Very stupid move since there is no guarantee they will get LMA. The spurs traded their defensive anchor with no guarantee for a replacement.
I am still not getting my hopes up about LMA but if the Spurs do not get him, I am sure they will find an adequete replacement. Or at least someone that isn't hurt 3/4 of the season.

Great that Splitter goes to the Hawks, tbh..they desperately need size, he fits their system, and he's going to be a big addition for them..good to see him land in a good spot..

And I'm assuming the front office isn't careless enough to make this deal without being very confident that Aldridge is going to be a Spur..

Lakers didn't make strong impression in Aldridge meeting, sources say. Spurs can close on him. LMA expected to make decision fairly soon.

Somehow it makes me feel better he's going to the Hawks. Like he's still in the Spurs family...

ing knew it. Once Milsap is gone, the Hawks would have been the best trading partner.

Lakers didn't make strong impression in Aldridge meeting, sources say. Spurs can close on him. LMA expected to make decision fairly soon.
    Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.com:

The Lakers meeting with LaMarcus Aldridge went almost two hours. Source in the room said it went “really well”

From a person in the room for the Lakers pitch “LaMarcus seemed completely focused.”

Always hard to gauge how a meeting really went, but Lakers felt better about this mtg w/ Aldridge than they did w/ Dwight or Melo.

Bill Oram of the Orange County Register:

Been told Kobe Bryant was “very good” in Lakers meeting with LaMarcus Aldridge. Also that meeting went “well,” for what that’s worth.

Good luck defending the pick n roll with Duncan's corpse and LMA

Tiago was the sole reason we had PnR defense..

Regardless of whether the Spurs get LMA, they now need a rim protector at center.

Manu will come back for sure, can't pass up this opportunity to get another ring (assuming LMA comes on board )

Definitely wish the Spurs had just made that deal on draft night. Green had no know he'd be willing to come back for that a week ago.

But is it enough space? If not, how much more salary do the Spurs need to dump?
What if Verdes salary is backloaded? Like 8, 10, 12, 14? Is that even possible? Dunno? Would that help?

The only question mark in what appears to be a stellar offseason seems to be the defensive assignments in the frontcourt... Who is gonna defend someone like Drummond or DH.

Definitely seems like it, considering how quickly he re-signed and how many teams were reportedly interested in him..

I don't think the Spurs make this deal without some assurance from LMA he is coming. RC and Pop would never do it.

Also means Baynes will be returning more than likely next season.

    Not so sure about that.

In any event, the die is now cast.

Plan B can no longer be to re-sign everybody -- Plan B now has to involve some (probably high-priced) free agent.

Any ideas if it's not LMA?

    DeAndre? Monroe? Others?
