    I'm assuming Houston doesn't have the funds to pay Aldridge. Am I wrong? I would think by maxing two players already, that they would again have to gut their team to sign Aldridge to the money he wants.

    Houston would need to salary dump Ariza, Papanikolaou, and one of Jones or Motiejunas to clear space to sign Aldridge. Probably another candidate for Haywood's contract in Cleveland.
