He probably wants significant playing time and knows he won't get it with GS. He knows if the Spurs don't get LA he will get a lot of minutes.

If the Mavs got Matthews, would they have room for DeAndre still? If so, I think I'd prefer that to happen. Clippers would be out of luck now that Tyson went to Phoenix, and Dallas even with Wes/DJ still isn't contending.
As for David West, I'd love to have him if we got Aldridge too or somehow got Splitter back if the trade was contingent on LMA coming here...but if we essentially traded Splitter for West, that'd be pretty ty.
If we are all so sure LMA is joining the Spurs then whats the hold up?
I stayed up until 1 AM waiting for Aldridge's decision, then woke up at 6 AM after only 5 hours of sleep just to check again if he had already made up his mind. Now it's 10:42 AM, and I'm here in the office, sleep deprived and sleepy as , getting zero work done, and still refreshing my Twitter feed for updates.
I like West in a vacuum, but where would he fit on the Spurs? You can't play him at center in either big or smallball. Certainly not as versatile a player as Diaw, so no way I'd want to give him Boris' minutes.
If LMA's not coming, imagine the meltdown

I can only think he takes Aldridge's role off the bench as the mid-range shooter. And then Diaw... well, I don't know.
Looks like West is willing to wait for the Spurs. If we could get him and solid C it would still make for a great off season all things considered

True. Pacer fans by and large came to hate west's season, consensus was that he quit on the team after the Paul George injury and there's plenty of game threads on pacer forums with lots of complaining about his bad, slow defense and poor rebounding.
He's basically as done as Dice and Kurt Thomas were when they got here, over the hill bench players forced into starting roles on a spurs team that couldn't or wouldn't get better players on the court.
