Not that this is their fault, obviously, but everything's always got to be so difficult with this organization. When all signs pointed toward Howard to the Rockets, he went to the Rockets, with no sign in between that he was ever going to do anything but that. But of course something unexpected had to creep up in this case, because it was about to benefit the Spurs.

If Chandler did the expected, which was stay with the Mavs, get signed and traded to the Clippers or signed with the Bucks, Aldridge to the Spurs would be a virtual lock.

Actually, there was plenty of drama with the Dwight Howard situation too. He verbally committed to Houston and all the reports came out saying the Rockets had landed him. A little while later, he began waffling and wanted to go back to Los Angeles because he was reluctant to leave $30M on the table. Finally, he realized that the news of him choosing the Rockets had already gotten so out of hand that there was no turning back from that decision.
