Aldridge looks more interested in the menu than Pop.

Losing Splitter hurts in particular but I'm still on board with the front office clearing space and making a run at Aldridge. Realistically, the window is now about 3 inches from hitting the ledge and closing. They picked a moment in time that was their best opportunity in several years and went for it. If they swing and miss, chalk it up to the law of averages and move on. Aldridge gives them a shot at building towards the future. There are not many 20-10 guys from Texas, who went to school in Austin, who are low key individuals, and play the exact same position as your nearly retired franchise player. It just doesn't happen.
Agree with most of this. I didn't believe Splitter or Baynes were serviceable, post Tim Duncan era. If LMA turns his ass towards the Spurs, I would be happy with West and or a lesser vet on a short contract.

I don't see any way that he comes close to making the team. I go to stanford and have watched him for four years. He's blossomed the last two years but no way is he the Spurs' answer at center unfortunately

Hibbert is still one of the best rim protectors in the league (if not the best) but he's so damn immobile and the NBA has sped up so much that there would be some teams he literally couldn't play against.
The defensive three second rule should be the only thing making that possible. He should be able to score at will against teams on the other end if they go small.

It's in the summer league thread. The roster for the Utah round.
Anderson and Lelanne on the same roster with LJC is interesting.

Yeah, I'm pretty low on Hibbert. If the Spurs got him, at best he's a 18-20 MPG player who is used mostly in situational matchups.

Hibbert is still one of the best rim protectors in the league (if not the best) but he's so damn immobile and the NBA has sped up so much that there would be some teams he literally couldn't play against.

Do you think he's less mobile than Splitter? I know he got pretty droopy once the locker room fell apart, but I thought he was at least as agile as Tiago. He plays a lot stronger than Tiago, so if everything else was equal? I don't know... maybe I gave him too much credit. But I know he didn't give any ground in the middle, when the opponents are in a half-court offense. The Spurs have suffered on interior defense at some critical times.

    BIG RUMOR. hahahah

    that guy also said this:
However, it's already been confirmed from insides sources within the Aldridge camp that he's 100% Spur. Deal was pretty much in place prior to the dumping of Splitter. Also said that Aldridge has already purchased a home in San Antonio.

focusing on the system and analytics is my guess.
Good a guess as any. I love that Pop brought the whole coaching staff to answer any and all questions LMA might have. Wonder if Messina was back in Europe when Pop asked him to go to LA. Anywhere in Europe to LA is a long ass flight...

Unfortunately, he's pretty bad about using his size on offense. He's great using his size on D but has never really figured out how to do it at the other end.
