    What I don't understand is why there's a need for all the assistant coaches? Shouldn't it just be a one-on-one with Pop?

    Pop is retiring soon, and if Aldridge plans to stick around he's going to have to eventually be coached by Messina. Udoka also played with LMA his rookie year in POR, they probably keep in touch every once and a while.

    Pop listens to his assistant coaches and they play a key role in player development. I think it just a way of saying we do things a little different. I me is a future head coach, ettore is a legend in Europe . In other words you are signing with an organization that does things right.

    Maybe to put his mind at ease if Pop decides to hang it up soon? LMA probably asked how long Pop would coach in first meeting.
