Maybe if Splitter plays 75+ games and Baynes turns out to be a competent starter, which he'd better for the money he got. Otherwise I think people freaking out are overrating what the Spurs had. Aldridge is certainly worth risking a few days in free agency.
It sounds silly but someone like Alan Anderson.. I don't know what his contract situation is like but that would be a decent get.
You're a pusher.
And a good 95% of the posts have stayed on topic. I can't believe we didn't have some bs troll war fuel any bit of the almost-200 pages.
Exactly what I'm doing now.![]()
Yeah. We were likely losing Marco and Baynes anyway. Sewing up Green and Kawhi were big. Missing LMA probably means David West. I'm in the camp that thinks the FO can't count on Splitter's health anymore and are okay moving on. If West is healthy that's not too bad. Meanwhile there should be cap room to swing some deal to absorb somebody. They've done clever stuff with space in the past, like when they got into the Brad Miller deal in 2003 and pulled Hedo Turkoglu and Ron Mercer. Sure, Mercer sucked for us, but they pulled that out of thin air.
Thankfully, Chumpdumper has managed to avoid this thread so far.

Oh Anderson...good call.
Max Bonner
He was above competent on a cluster Nets team.. I'd imagine he would be overwhelmed with the way things are run here and a defined role
There may not have been a bigger defender of Splitter over the years than me, and I have had to reluctantly come around to that conclusion. As Duncan ages, the ability to just eat up minutes for him becomes more important. There are guys in the league that set good screens and can do enough good things to fill in gaps for the team that they'll have a good rotation, plus they'll be able to count on them to fill up minutes.
Agreed. Tiago's health was always the reason why so many people here loathed him. I've read all 100,000 posts about his sore vagina. But, the 75+ games probably isn't going to happen.
Baynes is the key IMO. I think the guy can go on to be a decent player in the NBA.I'm going to miss his automatic FTs

shhhhh......
CD making an appearance in 3...2.....
Splitter when healthy was the difference between first round losses and finals contention.
He is being severely underated.
Most used words and phrases by media the last few days: "front runners," "neck and neck," cough, Lamarcus is a , cough, "As good a chance as any of the teams involved," "2nd meeting."
I like Aron, but he wasn't ready for prime time. He will need to make a step up in consistency. Maybe being allowed to play through the meltdowns will help him. Pop simply wouldn't have treated him that way.
I agree. He was a great fit here. The Spurs are one team, particularly going forward, where you just can't have a starter missing that much time if you don't know that it's ever going to get better. His injuries combined with Kawhi's eye and hand put too much pressure on Parker, and he was broken by the end of the season.
Footwork... lots and lots of footwork.
