I think so too, but I don't think he'll get that chance. He was benched in the playoffs.. never thought I'd see the day.. but I think Pop finally gave up on his "clutchness".
The series against the Clips was a fest for everyone not named Tim Duncan, tbh. I still think he's useful in certain situations. He can mentor Kawhi/Green and maybe teach them some more offensive moves.

Manu sounds like he's ready to spend time with his family and there's nothing wrong with that. He doesn't have the same desire because he realizes he's not what he was and it hurts him. He only knows how to play one way and with his physical limitations it usually costs the team. He can't thread the needle with his passes anymore and his shot selection is detrimental, specifically his 3 point attempts. I know most of y'all say Cory's gone but I'd rather have him back than Manu.

Kawhi and Danny need to learn the Euro-step.

Yes we need a bench. No one on the market will be as good of value as Manu even with his age.

Yes. I'm dumbfounded as to why they haven't yet.

Yes. Even as he ages, and his body deteriorates, he's still capable of being a brilliant passer and scoring threat. He rebounded from his 2013 Finals disaster quite well in 2014, I thought. Plus, he's done so much for the Spurs organization these last 13 years, that for him to retire without giving the team and fans a season's worth of notice, just doesn't feel right. He could really contribute to (and benefit from) another playoff run with Aldridge on the roster.
Totally agree - still has that great court vision and is still a great passer. I actually prefer him to Parker.

If Manu wants to be back, you take him in a heartbeat
    At the right price.

Absolutely yes. He will compete from the bench more and stay vocal during timeouts. Tim and Manu will be heard by others, subtle leadership is important on this team.
He can start learning bench coaching and be Messina's assistant in 5 years.

If we were loaded at the SG position or with playmakers, then I think walking away would be fine, but as it is, and with the limited resources the team will have now, I think it makes sense for him to return...

Even old, we won't get anything close to equal value for the money.

Plus I like watching him play.
    pretty much says it.

how the can you not want one of the biggest winners of this league in the last 20 years to sign again.
I'd want him to be on the court in the last minutes of any game even if he's 60 and had 20 turnovers by then.
You don't give up one of your cornerstones like that.

Manu is invaluable simply because of his will to win. Guys get down, give up when they are playing poorly, and they need someone like Manu who gives a about games in January.

This shouldn't even be a question. Try finding a better sixth man/third wing/backup PG, on offense, for 4.2M. I'm presuming they'll guarantee half of his salary for a second season to get him to that number.

By his lofty standards, he was pretty damn bad from about the new year on last season, but I don't know why so many are acting as if he's a borderline NBA player.

Nothing, really. It's about this season and the fact we don't have a lot of money to add high quality players. Next offseason, with the cap exploding, the Spurs should have better options to find a suitable replacement.

I can see a final run at a le but costing a joseph who's 23 and a good defender and full of potential on what would be a cheap deal is rough

Cojo would cost more and is not a playmaker... I like him, but he's borderline talent, IMO...

    Nope.

I love Manu. Have always been a fan and will always be but that doesn't blind me to his shortcomings which have become pretty bad as of the last few years.

The Manu of today doesn't even come close to the early years. At least then you could deal with his ty turn overs and questionable passes but now he's just constantly making terrible decisions that really costs the Spurs badly.

It's time to hang it up.

Are the same people that are vehemently saying yes, the same ones who make dumb threads about him needing to retire when he costs them games and championships?

The starting PG situation concerns me way more than Manu's 20 min role at this point, tbh...
