Even finishing with the tiest record doesn't guarantee them a top3 pick imho, and even if they end up getting one, their 1st round pick of next year's would be owed to Philly, and you're fooling yourself if you think the Lakers can turn things around within one or two years.
I'd rather win 30 games and give a high pick to Hinkie than purposely tank and end up with a 4th pick in the draft tbh

never said the lakers were good without kobe. they were going to wind up in the same area anyway. but there's nothing to suggest kobe was benefitting them... only the opposite
edit: i was a bit inaccurate. the lakers were infinitesimally better on offense with kobe on the court, but much much worse on defense and thus overall...
