leonard could have taken less green did
Porker running off good players with his cancerous contract.
leonard could have taken less green did
Damn Spurs bench getting thinner and thinner. Spurs have lost 4 players this offseason so far and gained one.
4yr/30mil for Cory.....holy that Spurs price bump is real![]()
Tony didn't even get maxed. He's taken plenty of paycuts. Unfortunately, most players want to get paid according to the market and not take huge paycuts to satisfy fans.
Leonard is a max player man, why would he take less? Dude is getting his first big contract and he is worth it. Danny took a little less than some did out there and that is great, but honestly you think Leonard should have taken less just because Danny did? It's a business, if you get offered a max you take it and get paid. Tim is taking a lot less now and he is a rare species in this game but he even had a max in his career and probably has enough and then some to feed several families for life so he can afford to do that now.
Speaking of taking less, someone else who lost a step or two and is getting paid a ton could have taken less as well but he did not (No names).
People paying Spurs 3rd stringers loads of money.
If those are the numbers, he hit paydirt. Not sure there was another team in the NBA that would have offered him near that much. And I'm sure that is several times higher than the Spurs would have been willing to pay, even if they didn't sign LMA.
Knew that he would get paid
but 4yr/30m?
Whoa
hometown hero effect?
The le teams role players always get overrated it seems. I remember the Bulls 90's team, you knew the scrubs on that team and they got overrated from being on the team to begin with, same as some LA players you remembers names that weren't really that good but got over hyped from being on a le team. The Spurs name along raises the price on role players it seems.
He was as good as gone. No way the Spurs would have matched that $30 million offer.
I think players should be paid what they are worth. But you can't criticize Parker bc he's taken paycuts too.
Spurs weren't going to match those high priced contracts for bench players anyway, at least we got Aldridge in the process of the team losing their depth for the time being...
. Well best of luck to CoJo, I wish we could've held onto him instead of overpaying Enrique.
Damn, was there even anyone else to bid against at this point?
Holy ! Well, Cory got paid. I guess he would have been a bargain at the QO. Shame the Spurs couldn't keep him, but Aldridge was a no-brainer. 4/30, seriously? Maybe a few of the remaining FA's should take notice. Come to SA, get a ring and a pay-day in a couple.
OMG. Congrats, CoJo
He was pretty damn good in the regular season last year. His growth from a rookie was outstanding. He's a legit NBA player at this point.
I don't think this is a huge loss for the Spurs. Joseph got minutes last year because Parker was injured so much and Mills missed the first half of the season and came back rusty.
If Parker can bounce back and Mills can rebound to his previous level, CoJo would have racked up the DNP-CDs -- and he's too good for that.
Big picture: Aldridge for Splitter, Belinelli, Baynes and Joseph is a no-brainer.
Damn, Marco, Cojo, and Baynes all made a ing killing in free agency!!!
After seeing that Cory got $30 million, this has to be what happened...
True and Alridgde signing will probably open the door for some good vets on a minimum deal that are chasing rings.
He was (would have been) good insurance, at the QO. He held down the fort nicely when Tony was down. I guess you can't have that kind of insurance at every position, and winning it all always depends on some breaks in staying healthy.
The Spurs put a lot of work into him, and he made the best of it.
Sure, if you like "Socialism"...go watch the movie "Bullworth". Texas may soon have no federal income taxes, too.
P.S. I'm not taking it personally. What can I say but repeat what Forrest Gump said: "Stupid is...".
