[QUOTE=bluebellmaniac;8093581]How is this a rumor? It's just pictures of some of Argentina's great players. It takes words to make a rumor.

Wrong link. THIS SAYS DELFINO AND SCOLA.
If Hibbert were to be bought out, would the amount of salary that any particular team offers matter? Example, the Lakers buy him out for $15M (his contract is $15.5M). Does Hibbert get to keep any amount of a contract with another team above the $500k difference?

[QUOTE=stxspurs;8093594]That was tweeted by "Social Porters" who have a grand total of 585 followers.... looks legit.
[QUOTE=stxspurs;8093594]It sounds crazy, but it looks like it logically is possible. Both are going to take the minimum, just like Ginobili to win it all together!
Lineup update:
Parker/Mills
Green/Ginobili/Delfino
Leonard/Anderson/LJC
Aldridge/Diaw/Scola
Duncan/Bonner/Tavares/Lalanne
Here's the cir stances:
Delfino - undergoing physical in San Antonio
LJC - playing in summer league to make team
Scola - UFA still no offers
Tavares - Signed for $1.5m day after Splitter was traded
Lalanne - 2nd round pick. Center. Taken knowing Splitter was to be traded.
Please get west and a decent parker backup that could carry us if parker goes down. The rest will take care of itself
[QUOTE=stxspurs;8093594]Is Delfino still in the league?
Usually, teams waive their right to set-off money when they buy a player out. So Hibbert would keep it all. However, if the Lakers retain their right to set-off money, then they get half of (whatever Hibbert makes on the new contract minus the minimum). So if the Spurs gave Roy $5 Million after the Lakers bought him out, LA would get $2 Million of Hibbert's previous salary of $15 Million set off. So Roy would get $18 Million, with the Spurs paying $5 Million and the Lakers paying $13 Million.
In terms of wings, the Spurs have good options for short term cheap contracts: Luke Babbitt, Dorell Wright, and Jarrell Eddie could all help with spacing for the ~10 minutes per game San Antonio would need them.
I wish there was a plausible sign and trade for Kevin Seraphin, even if David West signs. But players are getting paid in this market and I don't see any incentive for Seraphin not to go to a team that has a budget for him.
With Jordan, Howard, S. Adams, Bogut, Cousins in West....the Spurs need a tough big to reduce regular season wear and tear on Duncan and Aldridge. Is Emeka Okafor playing this season?
I'm hoping for a team like this:
Parker/Mills/Anderson
Green/Ginobili/Eddie
Leonard/Wright/vet min or player dev
Aldridge/West/LJC
Duncan/Diaw/vet min or player dev
I wish we could steal Delly to play backup PG, but there's surely no way Cleveland lets him go, and we can't afford him anyway. I'd be surprised if he gets less than 12/3.
Looking at the remaining Cs, there's absolutely no-one worth signing. As many others have said, the best scenario would be West for the minimum and playing lots of bench smallball. Unless we're going to take a gamble on one of the draftees. And Bonner is almost definitely the 5th big due to system knowledge and effort. Ayres may be back, and Kawhi paying a lot of 4, if West chooses elsewhere.
There are some decent guys out there for 3rd PG, but with Manu/Kyle/Boris maybe we won't even bother with one of those.
That leaves a shooter. Ellington isn't terrible, but they'll probably stick with Williams who has experience in the system.
What happened to Reggie Bullock? He looked promising in some games during his rookie season with the Clips.
I like Jarrell Eddie for the minimum. The guy wants to be the next Danny Green: http://www.nba.com/spurs/austin-spur...nny-green-path
I don't think Seraphin is available for the minimum. I also don't care much for his game.
Spurs need a big body to go up against the West bigs like Howard, Adams, Bogut, Gasol, Cousins, Deandre Jordan.... (wow the list is really long!).
I suspect Tavares is available, but even if he is, he's just raw talent. Maybe its good enough to lay a body on the likes of Howard, kind of like how Baynes was effective.
Seeing Sonny Weems' name mentioned in other threads....intriguing.
As I said, if he's even close to ready, Miluitnov would fill a need cheaply.
Also, I have to say I'm intrigued at this rumor of Delfino and Scola joining Manu. It's probably baseless and I have no idea how much those other Argentine greats have left (though Delfino is only 32). It would be a way of filling out the bench, and their experience together probably would make them greater than the sum of their parts.
But as others have said, the source is unknown. Probably somebody just thinking "wouldn't it be cool if..."
Tavares is not available per reports. Atlanta is keeping him.
And, yes, the list of big bigs in the west is long. Aldridge is also on record as preferring to play alongside a gritty center. That player might not be available/obtainable this summer.
I don't think it is completely baseless.
Delfino is without a team and he recently was in San Antonio on a physical exam. Worse case, he tries out for the team.
Scola also is without contract.
Spurs have also no cap room to sign anyone outside of the minimum.
Two beggars can't be choosers. Spurs still need to fill in their roster with live bodies.
There's also that question of how to entice Manu to accept the minimum. Even at this advanced age, he's effective in orchestrating the offense.
Thanks. I have actually never seen this explanation, maybe it was tweaked in the 2012 CBA? Anyway, I mainly wanted to know how important it would be to have the capacity to offer Hibbert more than the minimum. The Spurs won't have any more than the room exception (if that isn't used on Manu or someone else) unless they manage to stay over the cap with a complicated S&T involving Aldridge and the outgoing Spurs.
wouldn't it be something to see the 3 amigos on the court?
David West - C/PF
Caron Butler - SF
Louis Scola - PF
These are the 3 players I think will sign with the Spurs for the Min (West the Room exception). West and Scola are still chasing a ring and Butler has stated he wants to go with a contender.
Spurs will have to make do with older guys this year. They will be able to start to revamp their roster for the future next year when the cap goes up again.
The trick is getting a Guard to replace Beli. I still like Shved. Spurs could give the Knicks a 1st rounder for him in a Sign and Trade or by some other means. Perhaps he will come here on a two year deal, 2nd year player option contract. With the cap going up next year, the Spurs can give him a raise if he indeed does mesh with the Spurs System.
Parker/Mills/Shved
Green/Manu/Shved
Leonard/Butler/KA
LMA/Scola/West/Bonner
Duncan/West/Bonner
IMO, this would be a solid lineup. Way better than last year.
You should stick Bonner and LJC as locks, and move Manu down to possible. Bonner already told Mic e Beadle he's looking for the minimum last week in their interview on Grantland, and no way Pop and RC don't offer that with a thin bench.
The room exception will go to Manu if he returns. I think West is waiting out the decision from Manu or he would have already signed for Cleveland's exception or a Spurs minimum offer.
I think it would be fun. I have no idea if it would be the best bench the Spurs can assemble or not, but the idea is fun. Manu can have a victory lap with BOTH his favorite teams.
How much can Cleveland offer him vs. the Spurs?
Also, how does Manu's decision impact his choice? (I assume he wants Manu on the team?)
It's going to be so funny seeing Hibbert's reaction to Kobe going cancer on him like with Gasol and Howard. One day you're going to see Hibbert on the bench crying on TNT.
I think Cleveland has similar money to the Spurs room exception. If Manu signs West would have to take minimum to come here. If not the Spurs will surely offer him the room exception they're hoping Manu takes.
Should anyone even whisper the words..."Andrew Bynum"?
The Lakers are so dumb they'll probably hire Kobe as coach after he retires.
