LJC was awesome reading that elevator play at the end. He won't always look that bad on offense, but he's definitely a defense-first player. Can totally see him getting spot minutes next season. His lack of range isn't as big of a deal, seeing as he'll be player with bigs who can space the floor.
Your comparison to Mbah a moute was pretty spot on. Thinking LJC has a higher ceiling though and probably can guard smaller players better.

I'm actually more than surprised with Livio.

Not worried about his O, it will come.. but his D... Wow.
I think he'll be able to solidify his offensive game is he gets huge minutes in Austin next season. He actually has good tools, but he's stuck being positions and hasn't refined an offensive game for either. In Austin, he'll be a four hands down. So we'll probably see his inside game improve.

Yeah, no. Livio can go back to Europe and hope the Spurs give him a good deal next year, or he can take the $2 Million-plus guaranteed by coming over this year. I don't think it's a question.
I'm just passing along the information. If he comes over he will get his own apartment in Austin, so there's that.

Bruno said that LJC's coming over isn't a lock. If he's realistic about it he'll stay in Europe and try to develop a shot for one more season. He'd never make it out of Austin as is.
Even if he spends most of the year in Austin he can be groomed and his role defined. Would he get the playing time and be allowed to play a significant offensive role in Europe.

I understand. I think it would take a CRAZY amount of trust in the Spurs for LJC to not come over. Plus, I'd think it pointless to stash him, as he'll be as good as the d-leaguers they call up mid-season anyway. I strongly disagree that developing in Europe makes sense for him. He barely played there, and he got paid a lot less than he would here. It just doesn't add up.

Man just thought about a future defensive lineup of DG, Kawhi, and LJC. Would give the other team fits on the offensive end.

The Spurs can go over the cap by bringing over Livio?

I don't think trusting the Spurs would be an issue. It comes down to whether he thinks 20 mpg at the French A/Eurocup level is better than 30+ in Cedar Park. His choice.

Livio or Cady more impressive today? Livio's defense was huge, but Lalanne had a solid all-around game.

Yeah. He's already reducing their cap space, though, but only by $300k or so. They'll sign him after Aldridge signs.

Trusting the Spurs is a HUGE issue. He has to believe they'll guarantee him at least the $2 Million he's currently owed no matter what happens next season. I don't know that they'd do that, honestly. Also, I think it would help his game more to eat minutes on a team designed to develop players' skills rather than a team that is made to win. He can already play a role. Now he needs to see how far he can expand his offense. The more time he gets with Spurs coaches, the better.

Cady has the edge give his range and defensive assignment. Ended up being overwhelemed by Okafor but holding him under 50% guarding him one on one most of the time was pretty impressive. Seems like more of an NBA player at this point.

LJC's hustle D was great, but det O....Has potential, but kind of Lance Thomas-y at this point. Hopefully his upside is higher than that.

And I think if the roster spot is at a real premium for the Spurs, they could wink-wink LJC into waiting. That's the kind of thing all these player/agent relationships are built to do.

As someone newish to basketball do players ever really develop overseas? I mean players like Parker/Manu were already talented as . Tiago was beasting overseas yet rode the bench for a couple of seasons when he came over. I've always thought that the sooner they can get on the Spurs bench the better.

That was more than hustle D. If what he showed translates to consistency I can easily see him called up at the end of the season and put in end of game critical defensive sequences. Particularly if he can add rebounding. Would have been nice to have a player like that in Miami 2014 at end of game 6.

They have five open roster spots. I don't think it'll be at a premium. Would also make more sense for the Spurs to not waste MLE space next year bringing LJC over, or having to fit his hold into cap space if they have it. Signing him this season is much cleaner for both sides.

They do. Top Euro leagues are strong, better than the NBDL and can be better than no PT at the end of an NBA bench.

LJC can hit from midrange. He just didn't today. But his overall line was more impressing than Cady's in my opinion.

Who knows how the Spurs actually want to fill those spots?

Again, I'm fine with his playing in Austin all season. Bruno wouldn't say he was mulling it over if he wasn't.

Eh - I think Cady going against the number 3 pick with such a refined offensive game is at least equally as impressive. But splitting hairs at that point. Both showed good things.

I know it is just a photo, but the form looks good for LJC.
