I am biased being a Spurs fan, but I think he has the potential with that quick release of his. If he could only create his own shot off the dribble successfully, Green could be ridiculously scary at both ends.

I have been hoping that his dribble penetration would improve and who knows, since the court will be so spaced, he may have enough room to get into the lane without any help defender ducking in to help. If this holds true, then yes, I think he could potentially reach all star status. Could you imagine if this happens... the Spurs could have 5 potential all stars in their starting 5.

    Please let this happen!!!

I believe dribbling the ball is a requirement for All Star selection

I wouldn't say "zero" chance, but this is a huge factor. Danny can't create off the dribble and is generally a pretty poor ball handler in motion. He could improve, easily, but until he does he's at his best being fed the ball on the wing or in transition.

If he leads the league in 3pt% at selection time there would be a tiny chance, but too many other guards score more.

Green has an NBA STD know as "ASS" or "A System Stigma". ASS is a serious disorder players are born with, those in the Western Conference and on the Spurs are know to have a higher risk for developing ASS. If you feel you or someone you know are unable to make an all star team because the voting is now broken into smalls and bigs, check with a medical professional to determine if you have ASS.

He is a great starter/role player but he isn't an all-star.

We do live in constant, paralyzing fear of that out here.

If he played in the East and if defense were valued equally to offense, he'd stand a chance.

Korver was an all star last year. All it takes is a few months of streaky hot shooting, apparently.

Korver plays in the East. Oh... okay... I changed my mind... if Danny Green is traded into the Eastern conference, then there is a chance he can make it as an all-star. Slim chance, but not exactly zero chance.

He'd have to get voted for and that is always a problem for the spurs.

Nope. Love Danny but he's not an All-Star caliber player. Not even as an injury reserve. He's an elite role player though.

I'm probably one of the biggest Danny Green fans on here but even I have to admit that it's probably too late to hope he can develop as a solid ball handler and finisher around the rim. With that said, he is still elite enough of a shooter and defender which makes him better than Korver. And if Korver can be an All-Star...

    Nah, it's not happening.

IS the question will he become an all-star or is he all-star caliber? Crappy players can be all stars, it's a popularity contest. There's a remote possibility if the team does amazingly well and he also does well and the Spurs get a lot of exposure, and hence fans vote for who they know. This is highly unlikely, but possible. Is he all-star caliber? Probably not, though aspects of his game are elite, i.e., three point shooting and defense. To be an all-star/all-NBA caliber player as a guard, you have to be able to attack the basket, and he doesn't have that ability yet, and probably never will.

I'd be happy for him to win a 3 pt contest and make the all NBA defensive team.

*Only* conceivable way is if he gets his scoring about to like 20ppg. Never will happen.

He would have to shoot the ball like he did in the first 5 games of the 2013 Finals until February & the Spurs woild have to be on pace for 70 win season to have a chance over Klay.

Tbh I don't even care if Danny never learns to attack the rim. I'd settle for him being able to bury a midrange jumper
