OKC is really close to the tax... would be slightly surprised if they matched a significant/max offer

CROFL, after the Singler extension they're less than $3 million under the tax line if Kanter walks. At the lowest possible salary Kanter could take on a 4 year deal for $70 million, namely $16.5 million, they're about $13.5 million over the luxury tax.

The first $5 million they pay $1.50 per dollar, for $7.5 million in tax
The next $5 million they pay $1.75 per dollar, for $8.75 million in tax
The next $3.5 million they pay $2.00 per dollar, for $7.0 million in tax.

So signing Kanter will cost them $16.5 million in salary and $23.25 million in luxury tax. I don't know, is Kanter a $40 million player to you?

So the tightass who has never spent a cent in luxury tax and who let Harden walk for nothing useful is going to pay out $23.25 million in tax this year? I think you got a better hope at going 1&47 this year tbh.

Word is they're looking to salary dump PJ3, Augustin, and Novak which would shed almost $9m

Maybe they learned their lessons. And Harden hasn't exactly been much to write home about.
