RIP...you know I'm with you breh. He was one of ours as well.
How he (Branch) aren't in the HOF, ?
One of my fav players not just QB's, his book SNAKE, highly recommend it.
Really hate to see this.
RIP Stabler
"Holy Roller"
"Sea of Hands" 4th Q
Paul Zimmerman is the single biggest reason why Stabler isn't in the HOF. Zimmerman had no respect for Stabler's habits and preparation and had a vendetta against Stabler because of a dust-up between Stabler and a sportswriter named Bob Padecky (Stabler supposedly had cocaine planted in Padecky's rental car in Mobile in 1979.)
zimmerman is an outright got who said "ken stabler will never get my vote as long as i'm alive"
As a Cowboys fan since the 60's I will admit Ken Stabler was my all time favorite player, even above Don Meredith. I still remember the best football game I ever saw on tv, it was Raiders at the Saint and Stabler got knocked out in the second quarter. The Saint ran the score up in the third til it was like 35-10 the Stabler, all groggy, comes off the bench and engineers a perfect comeback and the Raiders won the game. It is criminal he wasn't put in the Hall of Fame while he was alive.

I actually think Namath belongs in the Hall of Fame for reasons beyond his on-the-field performance. But I think Stabler belongs as well, and I'd also make an argument for Kenny Anderson.
RIP. Stabler is absolutely HOF material.
I remember when the Snake was part of the Saints 3-headed monster at QB with Richard Todd and Dave Wilson back in 1983. Stabler started 14 of those games and almost led the Saints to their first ever playoff berth but the Rams won on a last second FG in the season finale.
I hated the Raiders growing up, but the snake was such a clutch QB when games were on the line.
RIP as well. He was before my time but my dad used to talk about Stabler and his crazy exploits. He probably admired him for it, I even went out and bought his book Snake when I was like 12 but I never finished it. He definitely belongs in the HoF imo.
Same for me as I didn't start following the Oilers until the Warren Moon Era but my Dad was a big Stabler fan when the snake played for the Raiders and the Oilers.
My favorite thing that I read about Stabler was when he was traded to the Oilers he stated that he studied his Oiler playbook but the neon light of the Jukebox at Gillies.
