He's on a one year contract and came over to show he deserved a long term contract. Gotta think Pop didn't talk him into signing with the Spurs by promising D-league or no minutes. He'd have been looking for 2 or 3 year deal of that was the case. I bet he plays decent minutes 10-12, and against some teams like Clips, Houston, Memphis maybe more.

objective, how does Marjanovic compare to Oberto?
Oberto didn't have a pick and roll, but his picks were jarringly good.
He's not as deft, nimble, quick, etc as Oberto.

BOBAN is more of a post player and dump off man, but if he gets rolling to the rim it's time to watch out.

His pick and roll defense is what makes him a situational NBA player. Milutinov is probably a better pick and roll defense right now and it probably isn't close

From the vids, he can set a pretty good pick and has freakish reach... He will be perfect vs teams that play big in spot mins (5-10)

Marjanovic was a big time prospect when he was young. He dominated a player like Ajinça when they were 18 years old. He went undrafted because he was awfully slow and in poor shape. He worked a lot on his body over the years to reach the level he is today.

It's a really nice gamble for Spurs. He isn't just a big guy, he is a talented basketball player. If he can adapt to the rhythm of the NBA, he will be a huge steal.
Yeah from all I've read and the draft express video sure praises this guy.

Have you ever noticed how the Spurs have their best off-seasons after disappointment?

They're so conscientious about it when they win -- the unwritten rule is you have to let the same guys try to defend the le.

It's like after a le RC is sulking cuz he knows the Spurs are honor-bound to let the exact same group go for the repeat.

Maybe that's the reason they never do -- they're so considerate of the guys that just won.

Anyway, you could see the giddiness of RC during that presser this morning from a mile off -- and it wasn't because the jokes and banter were that funny.

It's better than blowing the team up like Cuban did.

Seems to have good touch around the rim and is a really good passer for his size. With that said he looks extremely slow and thats against Euro players. Imagine him against NBA players, but we can and have done worth with a 5th big.

    Tony,Mcullom
    Green,Manu/Mills
    Kawhi,Anderson/Diaw, Reggie Williams 2.0
    Aldridge,West
    Timmy,Boban, Baynes 2.0

I think the Spurs are done treating Anderson and Diaw as 4s. Seems pretty risky. I think there's a considerable injury/slump risk in the bench. Manu/West are going down, maybe Boban. McCullom/Anderson is gonna slump, book it. I don't think Aldridge/Duncan is sooo much of an upgrade over Diaw/Duncan. I especially run my tongue against plaquey teeth, when it sets in that it took turning Anderson/Splitter into West/Boban. All the while, keeping Diaw and Anderson, to play behind Kawhi. And trading in Cojo for McCullom. But the thing about the trades is, there was no trade. hardly any return. just lopsided switching.

Tbh, I think his slowness is being overhyped. He's slow but he's not Kyle Anderson slow

Yeah I agree, his rolls off the PnR were decent enough. Plus I've read he's got a high BBall iq so between PPP Manu and others I bet he'll get decent minutes early on

yeah but calling him the 5th big doesn't change the fact that he's the only reserve center we have.
Technically, sure, but both Aldridge and Duncan are near 7-footers that can be fine at the position, and it's probably the most irrelevant position in the NBA, nowadays, too..

Duncan/Aldridge/Diaw/West are going to eat up all the frontcourt minutes, and you'll see Kawhi at the 4 before you see this dude getting playoff minutes IMO..

I'll be happy if he can just get rebounds. Second and third chance points seemed to happen so many times vs the bench
