It kinda bothered me that we won in 2014 instead of 2013. It just felt weird winning in an even year.

It kinda bothered me that we won in 2014 instead of 2013. It just felt weird winning in an even year.
I wouldn't have minded winning it in 2012 though. I didn't like winning it in 2014 because it felt too expected. The 20 game winning streak in 2012 injected life into me as a Spurs fan, signaling that the Dark Age was finally over for good. But then the collapse, breaking my bedroom door after game 5 which cost my grandma $49 and then game 6 with all the calls...wrecked me.

I was somber about that in 2012 for awhile, but joined cross country for my senior year. Running all summer gave me the confidence to finish my last semester of high school (fall 2012) that would count towards my class rank (I was valedictorian). The spring of 2013 happened, Stanford rejected me, I missed out on a ton of scholarships for state schools, asked several girls to prom but they all turned me down. I was upset. But then the Spurs happened...again. After the Thunder lost Westbrook to injury in the playoffs and were ousted, the Spurs quietly eased their way into the Finals...but only to face off against the heavily favored Heat, who had won an insane amount of games during the season including a 28(?) game winning streak late in the season. My high school graduation/valedictorian speech (which ended with "Go Spurs Go!") happened in the Alamodome, the former home of the Spurs, during game 3, which was a pretty impressive win for us. Then we went up 3-2 going back to Miami, and for game 6, I was such a nervous puppy pacing around in my bedroom, in the third quarter when we were up 12-14 points, etc... then the Heat came back, but the Spurs seemed to pull away at the very end and have it... When Manu pulled down that rebound with under 30 seconds I thought it was all over... the spontaneity of it was so amazing... even splitting the free throws and hearing the Heat PA announcer groan "The Heat call timeout" gave me the greatest feeling in the world... Why did all of that have to be ruined? WHY?!

2012 hurt a lot. I thought we were about to roll through the entire postseason. As a result, I didnt expect much in 2013, I thought OKC was just better at that point and we were on the decline. Heading into the 2013 postseason we were 10-10 over the last 20 games, just looked average. Thinks broke our way including the Westbrook inury, but I still didnt think we would defeat the Heat. I expected to lose, so when Manu got that rebound and ran up the court (getting fouled by Allen), I honestly thought we had actually done it. That was the first time ALL season I thought we were going to win the le. Of course it was stolen. 2014 I full expected revenge and it happened. 2013 truly caught me off guard, was not expecting all of that to happen.....

    This.....

2013 was like unexpectedly meeting that perfect girl through clientele, at 4:59 p.m. at the end of the busiest week of the year at the office, and spending several glorious hours with her... (But then she says she is married at the end of the night)

2014 was like meeting a decent girl through a date planned months ahead of time at Olive Garden. She turns out to be fairly nice, but she isn't exactly a "dream" girl... then after spending a rather mundane evening with her, she agrees to partake in sex.

i still think the 2012 season was the best season quite possibly ever.

That spurs team was possibly the greatest spurs team ever on a huge rip.

They got backdoored by a friken KD, WB, Harden Ibaka team. 3 franchise players and a DPOY.

And that stacked team got beaten by an even more stacked team with Bosh, LBJ, Wade not injured.

The loss was hard, but Manus reaction was the worst. He basically said we cannot compete against youth and athletic ability.

    2014 Spurs > 2012 Spurs

    2013 Spurs > 2012 Spurs

Main reasons being: Kawhi and Green and Splitter improvements

I look back to that hack-a-splitter in game 2 as the turning point. Thunder made a push and cut it within 10, Spurs won, but Thunder gained something in that 3rd quarter of game 2......

I have to say its not that easy.

TP prime. Manu still decent. Tim Duncan was quite fast in 2012 as well. And green was shooting just as well. I think the Big 3 3 years younger is better than whatever Kawhi has developed in the last 2 years.

TP prime was arguably the best PG in the nba. Our 2014 squad he wasnt even top 20.
