Chandler left the first time around because Cuban refused to give him fair market price.
He left the 2nd time because he is finished.

    Parsons signed last year.
    Ellis signed with the Mavs
    Carter signed with Mavs
    Deron Williams signed with Mavs
    Wes Matthews signed with Mavs
    Stoudemire signed with Mavs
OJ Mayo signed with the Mavs
    Stojokavic signed with the Mavs
Tim Thomas signed with the Mavs
    Kidd resigned with the Mavs
    Stackhouse signed with the Mavs

While they are not huge names, many of these FAs were coveted.
Nice list of either grossly overpaid, dumbass, or over the hill players tbh.

I'll put it this way. Even if Mavs had landed Jordan and Derron. Even if they had been able to keep Ellis.

Derron, Ellis, Parsons, Jordan, Dirk. That team still doesn't make it past round 2 in the West.

    No franchise player.

You could even make a case for Dirk>KG

No you cant....KG had a jumper, awesome mid range and low post game...and excellent defender....Dirk only had decent mid range but great 3pt range...and No defense...that's why him and Pau are close but I give the edge to Dirk...mentally tougher than Pau as well

Ellis, Carter, Stojakavic, Mayo and Kidd did decent relative to their contracts.

Parsons was injured and could be of some value (likely will always be overpaid)
Williams @ $10M for 2 years seems like a reasonable deal for a player, even in the downest of down years, puts up 13/6.
Wes Matthews is a head scratcher, he was willing to sign for way less, but Cuban just felt like it.
Stoudemire was coveted by quite a few teams and chose the Mavs
Tim Thomas was done, but teams were still actively looking for his services.

Kidd and Stack were acquired via trades imho, not as FAs if I remember correct. But still, obvious trolling is obvious. It looked somewhat funny at first, until it reached the turning point where the thread became another chance for those idiots to talk about our legendary player.

    lol wtf

Im not the OP or any guy from Mavs forums. Although tbf the OP does bring up valid points. At first I had Dirk locked into the third spot but the more I think about it...MVPau/Dirk really is a toss-up for the third best PF of our generation.
Dirk took a huge on Pau both times they met in the playoffs. The second time Pau was on the reigning two-time champs. LOL Prime Pau > Prime Dirk.

Don't want to turn it inot a Dirk vs. KG thing and may have KG slidely above Dirk myself as well, but:

KG dind't have a real postup game...it was just a turnaround jumper...if thats a postup game, Dirk has one as well.

While KG is the far superior Defender, you can call Dirk at least average for most of his career.

While Dirk proved he can be an aplha, KG never did...only acted like one.

They are different players. It's like comparing apples to oranges. You could never ask Dirk to anchor a defense like KG could in his prime. You also couldn't ask KG to put a team on his back and go win a game in the last 5 minutes with clutch scoring. For Dirk to win a le, he needed a rim protector like Tyson next to him. For KG to win a le, he needed a go-to scorer like Pierce.

It's a pointless exercise to argue Dirk > KG or KG > Dirk. One thing I will say is that Dirk's teams tended to go further in the playoffs when the talent around him and KG was similar. After Nash left, the only All Stars Dirk played with was Josh Howard in 2007 and Kidd was an injury replacment in 2010. KG didn't start making deep playoff runs until he got traded to Boston. The only time the Wolves made it far in the playoffs he had Cassell and Sprewell who were still playing at a high level.

I'm not going to disrespect Dirk he is the 4th best power forward of his generation only behind Tim Duncan, KG, and Pau.
But no one wants to play with Dirk. This whole DeAndre Jordan fiasco is just icing on the cake. Most of the great teammates he played with and carried him to a championship are all acquired via trade and once they all hit free agency they all left. ( Tyson twice, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Steve Nash... just to name a few).

Why do you think this is?

The elephant in the room for mavfan:
DIRK HAS NOT AGED WELL. HE IS NOT EVEN BETTER THAN AL JEFFERSON AT THIS POINT.
Some truth in that, tbh..His movement has fallen off cliff since 2012 and he's literally become traffic cone on D....Watching Josh Smith and Howard embarrass him in predictable and continuous pick and roll set for the dunk was too painful last PO..His outside shooting is already catching up in decline..

Pau, maybe. KG? Only on ST since its littered with Mav homers and Spurfans that consider Dirk classy and KG an asshole.

Uh not talking about the fact one is classy another an asshole

factnis kg is more arguable but i still take the German, his 2011 run seals the deal IMO Dat was a dominant run

I have mad respect for Dirk though. Everyone thought he was going to be a bust coming into the draft, including myself but he proved everyone wrong.
His career could have been a lot different, maybe a nice piece ala Tony Kukoc but he landed into a perfect organization where they were able to assemble Championship caliber teams around him.

A better argument would've been made about which is more valuable - you or a huge stack of dog , tbh.

He's not even a good troll. A good troll is so subtle that he fools you into thinking that he's being sincere. And you would think in 15 years he would come up with another routine besides ting on Dirk.
