I remember he played pretty decent in limited minutes with Miami. Why did he all of a sudden disappear into the abyss on a team that was in desperate need of a big man?

Because he can barely move without breaking a body part or tearing a muscle..

You guys forgot too soon that this Oden was picked before Durant... if he somehow lives up to his potential in Dallas we would be stacked as tbh. The best defensive big since Bill Russell

If Cuban wants to tank-and he should for matter-- I'm sure he would have his word over Dirk/Carlisle..But the egotistical part in him says that his owned Mavericks team with such illustrious recent history are above intentional losing..IMO, he wants to pull a Morey-like Rockets compe ive reload plan 2010-2012..But that was bookended by the trade/signing of two stars--something that he has been miserably failing at for half decade now..

He was not even that great in college. He was good but remember he had a hand injury. Of course we saw plenty of potential but the league is so desperate for quality bigs this dude was vastly overrated. Conley was the best player on that team if you watched the games Oden did impact the defensive end ... but his offense was limited and he was no David or Patrick Ewing on defense either.

Oden did what we should have seen he was hurt his one year in college and every year as a pro ...those that expected otherwise were foolish.

After seeing PJ Tucker disappear into oblivion and then come back to play decent with the Suns I guess anything is possible

Sign both Bynum and Oden imho, them backing up each other, so you'd need a healthy version of either Bynum or Oden for only 41 games a season which shouldn't be that hard even for them s. Both s have massive potential and used to be quite good on different stages, and they probably wouldn't demand anything more than vet minimum, low-risk investment tbh.

Gilbert Arenas is also a free agent currently, imho, another ring-hunting veteran who would very gladly join us for a vet minimum contract and the chance to ring before retiring.

I am rooting for the guy. If he even makes it on the bench it's still one of the best stories in the NBA
