Most of the guards have thin, lanky frames, putting on too much muscle and weight would hurt their game, tbh..

The freakish, wide-framed guards like Westbrook and Bledsoe can handle the extra muscle mass, though, and they look ripped..

Still, though, the functional strength required in basketball doesn't lead to a nice physique like an entirely physical game such as football does..

QBs are the same, their required functional strength is strictly related to the mechanics of throwing..

I remember playing in dodgeball leagues, and all the dudes with the most ridiculous arms were the tall, chubby, lunberjack looking guys that didn't really have any athletic ability..

I don't know much about baseball, but I bet most of the great pitchers didn't look aesthetic, but had high functional strength(Bartolo Colon comes to mind)

    If we're talking aesthetics, i don't even think it's a contest...It's soccer player.

    Both Men and Women..

The women still have their ts and most importantly they have big asses and thighs...

    it's position/role dependent.

The runners/wingers like Messi, DiMaria and a bunch others are always going to be skinny.

    Midfielders have very average physiques.

Defenders and the Number 9 CF target man are usually the aesthetic ones.

Ronaldo is really built like a 9...But most players playing the wing position like him would rather lose the muscle. It's a lot easier to play that way.

Not a whole lot of target man nowadys though....

I can't believe Kobe has any podginess on his gut given how hard he apparently works.

Don't some of the supplements these guys take when working out have adverse affects causing you to get flabby later on if you don't keep working out?

mosts sports is all about fitness and hanging around see who is the fitess b4 fatigue kicks in...then perfecting whatever skillset without any inefficiencies

soccer is a 90min that involves running and in some cases walking around most of the time...no point being bulky and

A few years ago after the season he was injured, I remember seeing pictures and videos of John Wall with a flabby gut. Pro athletes in the off season and even more so when they're rehabbing and not necessarily running a lot aren't going to be completely ripped 365. Doesn't surprise me that Kobe would gain some weight especially if the pictures were months after the achilles injury and before he got into a stricter workout and diet regimen before he could really run and work out to keep the weight off.

Of course, he could do what John Wall did not long after those pictures of him being fat came out, when he got a full stomach tattoo basically covering up everything. Lol.

He is just doing it Tim Duncan style like 4 years ago.

You know, when Pop told him to come to camp beeing out of shape...using the full season to get into shape until playoffs start.

...I don't know what exactly it is, but there might be a problem with this plan.
