    peak "easy" oil is clearly passed.

    so exploration and extraction is much more expensive, more prone to catastrophic accidents. fracking has the Red Queen problem, Gulf of MX oil is miles down, S is fumbling, bumbling it's way into the Arctic, etc, etc.
