Lieberman on Thursday said she will accept an offer to join the Sacramento Kings as an assistant coach, making her the second female coach in history to join an NBA staff after Becky Hammon was hired by the San Antonio Spurs in April 2014.

"I am a King," Lieberman told ESPN Radio's Ian Fitzsimmons via text.

Lieberman, a 57-year-old Brooklyn native, is no stranger to coaching. She coached the D-League's Texas Legends from 2009 to '11 before moving into the front office of the Dallas Mavericks affiliate for a year as an assistant general manager.
Her coaching position with the expansion team marked the first time a woman had coached a men's team under the NBA's umbrella.
She's probably a good coach but I can't help but feel like the Kings only did this to make headlines. I mean, it is the Kings.

Actually the person I'm really impressed with is Doris Burke ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doris_Burke ). Probably one of the smartest basketball commentators on TV.

a class or 2 above the normal commentator ilk
When you listen to her, you begin to realize that Mark Jackson "Hand down, man down" is completely clueless.

Nancy Leiberman is a legend and a hall of famer. Love her on NBA radio. Great move by the Kings front office. That coaching staff is stacked. I hope they can talk sense into Cousins skull.

She still has not met Boogie in person and probably already has a better relationship with him than Coach Karl.

I think another former player who could potentially make a good coach is Cynthia Cooper.

And there is also a female who recently got a job in the D-league for Texas Legends too. Congrats to Nancy. After Hammon was hired more women are getting opportunities in pro-sports. The Kings needed some good PR as well. So it's beneficial for both sides.

Even NL said she was surprised by the hire. But what's the motivation for the Kings to make headlines? I don't think ticket sales or ratings get a boost. A public relations boost? The Kings definitely do need some good press in the face of how dysfunctional they've been in recent years.

Karl is not what they call a player's coach. His hire says one of two things:

    1. The Kings want to ultimately trade Cousins.
    2. They've somehow foolishly convinced themselves that Karl can mold Cousins into a leader.

Nancy Lieberman definitely is pissed that Becky Hammon had the honor of being the 1st NBA assistant coach.

Hammon, based on her SL performance, has absolutely better rapport with players and definitely a more creative approach to selecting the lineup.

Lieberman is likely more conservative. If she were coaching SL, she would have Anderson and Simons start the game. Hammon, however was keen enough to have Simmons come in as like a 6th man.
