I grew up with Konami games tbh. MGS, Winning Eleven ( PES), Suikoden, Castlevania, Contra and many other .

It's sad that Konami is closing it's curtains in Video gaming..One of the most influential developer in video gaming history.

The whole fire the producer or creator kinda thing is something that Konami has been doing for years now though

They fired the Suikoden dude in around 2000 while creating the third game of the series.

    They Fired Igarashi from Castlevenia

    and now Kojima..

Just terrible PR from Konami...they ruined their gaming department by getting rid of the people that made their IP's

Their reasoning for doing it is beyond re ed too.

They want to focus on phone games.

They did Kojima raw, no doubt about it.

Hope they self destruct after MGS5. Last game I will ever buy from them ty s.

funny thing is every series that they tried to continue making after firing said creator died.

    Suikoden died after V
Castlevenia died after that last terrible game
and MGS will probably follow in a few years...Every MGS tle since MGS one have been strong candidates for game of the year..no erase that, every freaking main MGS game has won multiple game of the year award..let's see if they can do the same without kojima.

They've been killing their IP's one by one.

I just wish they sell their IP's to people that actually love the games...

I realize by leaving video gaming, they're probably doing a good decision business wise..but the least they can do is give these IP's the proper resepxt they deserve.

There won't be a MGS game without Kojima. No one would buy it.

Everyone's pissed at Konami as it is, they won't help them by buying their product.

Sony is in Japan what Microsoft is here. probably even bigger, so no.

Even Kojima doesn't have that power swing.

Ubisoft released some sales numbers for 2014 and their XBox One sales could only match the XBox 360 sales for the year.

Playstation 4 was something like 3 or 4 times the sales of Xbone.

Is Microsoft even making money with box? been hearing a lot of rumors in the last few months about a possible sale. Wouldn't be surprised if it happens...

What I am confident with is Nintendo leaving the hardware/console business and just focusing on their IP's game development in 10+ years..

At this point, the battle is going to be about future monopoly..I don't think the number of games or the market is big enough for three star consoles...Heck it was never big enough for Multiple consoles in terms of profit.

Microsoft really screwed the pooch with Kinect, their launch price, and the always online crap. They were in a great position in the US market with the original XBox and the 360, but they ed themselves trying to be a media center. XBox has always been horrible for that, I mean why am I paying for XBox Live Gold just to be able to access youtube or the Netflix account I'm already paying Netflix for? I'm just hoping Valve and Vulkan are finally able to take Windows out for gaming on the PC in the next few years now that Microsoft is trying to bring all that XBox Live crap to PC.

    What are you not grasping?

No matter what Microsoft does will ever work in Japan. Xbox will never outsell or do halfway decent in those countries.

He was probably questioning the idea of Microsoft being the Sony of the US from a console standpoint..mainly because Sony s on Microsoft even in the US..

I was just talking about brand power alone. Consoles not withstanding.

Microsoft and Gates pretty much has a lock on the computer business here.

Sony has a lock on everything electronics worldwide.

I don't know about Sony being a lock in the electronics department. To my knowledge, they're losing a lot of money outside of PlayStation..Samsung is really giving sony fits.

I know they've recently said they want to focus on the Playstation brand, and really that's an obvious decision since Playstation is probably their most profitable electronic hardware. I don't know how they're doing in the entertainment business, but that's another avenue.

There is no way Konami survives for more than a few years.

They burned enough bridges to be completely cut off.

If they want to go mobile, they still have to sell the games to actual gamers. Even if those are casual gamers they would know what a ty company it is.

Konami is actually making more money now than ever.

But in terms of Video gaming, they should be out of that market soon..

My only wish is they sell their IP's..

    They Halted development Silent Hill
    They Halted development of Suikoden

I'd say Konami probably was on the fence with Video games..if they had started developing these games two or three years ago, it means the Big guys probably just recently made the decision to completely go mobile and just concentrate on their more profitable business.

Silent Hill is afterall their main game in the horror department and Suikoden was their go to JRPG..

    Castlevenia was their adventure game

They have pretty much given up on their go to IP's tbh.

Not according to stock price. They're on a down spiral and declining.

They are doing just fine tbh.

Their poor PR both in Japan and North America is most likely the main culprit of the down in prices.

This has been going on in Konami for years now. In about 2010 is when they started to slowly distance themselves from video gaming..During 10-15, they made pro huge fits profits outside of video gaming...I'm sure they already predicted this reduction in prices in stock. Leaving a once used to be a major part of your business can be a turn off with some buyers..

Konami is going south with that mobile strategy, as long as they release Hard Corps Uprising for PC/PS4 I dont give a (I dont have too many PS3 games so it will be collecting dust)
But at the same time Im not a big fan of Hideo Koji why? because not everything in life is MGS, he had other interesting IPs to make sequels like ZOE and he kept doing MGS for years and years, I know he likes to see himself as a ¨director¨ putting his name everywhere when he is more a hipster than a programmer, but yes his games have his vision thing is Ridley Scott is not just about Alien, Verhoeven is not just Total Recall, Kubrick was not just about Clockwork Orange.
Now every one of his IPs are Konami´s property so whats next?
