And what if Durant and Westbrook leave and they have to move the franchise? Disastrous?
Doubt it would come to that point unless they have arena issues in the future.

Harden wasn't traded to keep Perkins, OKC had to either give a hefty pay day to Harden, or to Ibaka, and they rightfully chose to pay Ibaka instead

Could have amnestied Perkins and kept both. It was their fault for giving Perkins a 5/40 deal

Didn't OKC already use their amnesty provision on another player instead of Perkins?

The Vancouver FO traded a 1st round pick for a player on an expiring contract back in 97. I don't remember who it was, but it was the 90's equivalent of the Jeff Green trade - ship off a future pick and hope it doesn't bite you in a franchise changing draft. The Grizz moved to Memphis and when the 2003 draft rolled around, the only protection left on the pick was #1 overall. Lebron was rigged to go to Cleveland, so in a cruel twist of fate, the Grizz pick landed at #2 and went to Detroit, who drafted Darko. The Grizz FO at the time liked Melo. Imagine Melo or Wade with Pau, Battier, Miller, Richardson, etc... Maybe we would have won a playoff game or two.

I grew up in Charlotte so I can say that trade didn't destroy the Hornets. Hornets were a playoff team with prime Rice,Mason,Divac,Wesley, and even after those guys were gone they easily transitioned to Baron Davis,Mashburn,Campbell,PJ.Brown. What really hurt the Hornets was the death of Bobby Phills he was the equivalent of Danny Green/Bruce Bowen for the Hornets. Honestly I don't think Kobe would have helped the Hornets greatly if he stayed in Charlotte. I think Kobe's career ends up similar to Tmac,AI, Vince Carter if he doesn't end up in LA.

The New Jersey Nets acquired forward Gerald Wallace from the Portland Trail Blazers in a deadline deal on Thursday in exchange for center Mehmet Okur, small forward Shawne Williams and New Jersey's protected 2012 first-round pick, the Nets announced. The pick is top-3 protected, according to a league source."Gerald gives us some great defense, versatility, he's a hard worker and he'll provide leadership," Nets general manager Billy King said in a Thursday night conference call, hours after the 3 p.m. trade deadline passed.

The Nets already have lost three small forwards to season-ending injuries --Damion James, Williams and Keith Bogans, who since has been waived. They have been starting DeShawn Stevenson at that spot, but he's playing out of position.
King said it was difficult to give up the pick, but "in meeting with our scouts, we felt the player that we may draft beyond the protection would be somebody that would probably take a couple years (to develop), and at this point, we're trying to speed the process up a bit and start winning (more).
"I can understand the fanbase (wanting us to keep the pick), but I'd rather try to balance the roster, add a piece and still have cap flexibility," King said.
A team source told ESPN.com's Chad Ford the Nets were willing to part with their top-3 protected pick because there are only three players in the upcoming draft the Nets covet -- Kentucky's Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and Kansas' Thomas Robinson.
The Nets still have Houston's 2012 protected first-rounder, King noted, "so it's not like we got completely out of the draft." At the same time, it appears as though they're in "win-now" mode.
Wallace, who will turn 30 on July 23 and is in his 11th NBA season, was averaging 13.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 42 games for the Blazers. He is slated to make $9.5 million this season and has a player option for 2012-13 at the same amount.
Asked if he was concerned about the possibility of Wallace opting out, King responded, "Not really."
Okur, whose contract will expire at the end of the season, has not played for the Nets since Jan. 25 because of back problems, while Williams, who has a player option for next season at $3.1 million, was lost for the season in late February because of a foot injury.
The move was part of a massive overhaul for the Blazers (20-23, 12th place in the Western Conference). They traded center Marcus Camby to the Houston Rockets, and also fired coach Nate McMillan and replaced him in the interim with assistant Caleb Kanales.
Wallace is due to fly to New Jersey and have a physical on Friday, and should be available Saturday night at home against the New Orleans Hornets, King said.

Well, by pure definition, I guess it would be because we owned his rights. In reality, we never signed him though so the trade was for rights only. I know, semantics. Doesn't really rank very high if considered a loss through trade. Scola never won anything. THE MAN, Bill Russell, was simply the winningest player of any sport ever. When you consider his college years, olympics, and pros he won 14 Championships in 14 years. Never has or will be matched.

Holy , Westbrook/Harden/Durant/Ibaka/Chandler. The stuff of nightmares for the other 29 teams.

ugh. Billie Kings track record is alwful

He gave up a ton of picks for one year of Pierce and a 1 1/2 years of KG.

    Traded Favors for Deron Williams

Signed Deron Williams to a 5 year $100 million dollar deal

4 years later, they buy him out.

Resigned Wallace to a 4 year $40 million deal when he was clearly on the decline.

Traded picks (including what turned out to be the 15th pick in the draft) for Joe Johnson's massive deal.

As Bill Simmons put it "No Team has ever had four of the top 20 players on same team (KD, RW, Harden and Ibaka). If they don't when a le, expect a 30 for 30 do entary in the future.
