What ya do is buy ya some books on the origins of it all and then search out the music mentioned. It took me 50 years to get to where I'm at now. I could teach music appreciation at any University in the world. No not talking about how to play this and that, I;m talking about the artists, the recording companies the story behind the sound. And what is essential, a must listen. And yes I can do that with rap, heavy metal, hip hop, whatever. I know it all but just prefer some over others.
