T-Mac or Iverson or Arenas or any number of competent guards could have ridden Shaq and Pau to multiple rings. Shaq probably never leaves LA with any of them plugged in, and they'd be sitting on 8-10 rings instead of a 3rd 5th which Kibry clings to.

Don't forget the incoming free-agency group...that press conference was one for the ages. "Any of you guys spoken to Kobe yet?"

The resulting blank stares and awkward silence

I always believed that you could have put Vince Carter,Tmac, Ray Allen, Pierce, in Kobe's place and like you said the Lakers would have won even more championships. I think Tmac would have been a mega star with Shaq. His career would have been longer due to not having wear and tear on his body like he did during his Magic and Rocket days.

Yeah, there's a litany of guys who would have 5 rings playing next to Shaq and MVPau. Richard Jefferson, Kidd, Grant Hill, Billups, Hardaway, Marion, Spreewell, Francis, Melo, etc. Kobe was nothing special, just in the right place at the right time, and probably should have 7 or 8 instead of 5 but because of rape and selfishness is stuck with his 3rd 5th.

On the contrary, it's a treat. Media finally started some soul searching over first Dragic, now Morris demanding out. Of course it was backhanded soul searching..."I'm not blaming the Suns for this. It's in no part their fault, whatsoever." Then they proceed to blame the Suns for it.

Don't enjoy it too much Dale. All good things in moderation my mother always told me..

You know the routine Cubs...media "backhanded soul searching" is par for the course nowadays.

I'm safe there,,,they ain't goin' anywhere. Pretty soon I'll be at O & 1/2-a-100. When that happens I may drive down one morning when I'm up at 3AM and do a little art work. , I'm old enough to purchase the spray paint.

I always said that the difference to between Paul Pierce's legacy and Kobe's legacy is Shaq. But I think you're slightly over-rating Shaq post 02 era. The guy was definitely declining by the time of the threepeat. He kept making it to conference finals in the weaker East with Miami. But he wasn't gonna will his way through the West.

Kobrick with a twitter account trying to seduce the new kid on the team,,,,come out of the closet already. I don't even think Duncan has a twitter account,,,,he's not a 15 year old highschool girl. He's to busy with his smoking hot girlfriend to play on twitter with his new male teammate,,,,

Their best shot honestly was 2006 but Amare went down. When the Spurs were knocked out of the playoffs they had their nemesis out but it happened to be the year Amare got hurt so they lost to Dallas in 6. That was their shot though and as luck would have it they were the cursed franchise they were.
