he shows himself to be dumberer with every mouth opening

Jeb Bush Said The Iraq War Was A ‘Good Deal.’ Here’s Exactly What It Cost.

Speaking at a national security forum yesterday in Iowa, Jeb Bush asserted that “taking out Saddam Husseinturned out to be a pretty good deal.”

In his remarks, Bush also refused to rule out the use of torture as an interrogation tactic and mimicked his brother’s famous declaration, saying that the “mission was accomplished.”

Many of the architects of the Iraq War are currently advising Jeb Bush on foreign policy.

Jeb just can’t help himself: The myth of his electability continues to fade

Calling Saddam's ouster a "pretty good deal" and name-checking Paul Wolfowitz, Jeb keeps rivals' hope alive

Not only is Jeb! now fully embracing his brother’s disastrous, bloody war of choice. He’s talking about it in a glib salesman way, reminding us that the war was in fact

“a pretty good deal” for his cronies:

    for Halliburton spinoff KBR,

    the entire defense industry, and

a metastasizing web of private security contractors including disgraced giant Blackwater.

The families of the dead and wounded in Iraq might disagree.

Things got worse in his speech Friday, where he volunteered that “Paul Wolfowitz is giving some advice.” Wolfowitz, the scowling face of the smug neocons.
I’ve asked this before: Does Bush even want to win?
Donald Trump claimed Bush had his “47 percent moment” – the comment that doomed Mitt Romney — when he suggested we’re spending too much on women’s health. But his dumb remark about toppling Saddam being “a pretty good deal” could rival that. Then again,

there are so many contenders for the inconvenient, inadvertent truth-telling moment that could doom Bush:

suggesting underpaid American workers “need to work more hours;”

    that “the federal government shouldn’t be doing this” when asked about the minimum wage;

arguing that we should be “phasing out” Medicare.

    http://www.salon.com/2015/08/14/jeb_just_cant_help_himself_the_myth_of_his_electab ility_continues_to_fade/

Maybe Bill Maher's comment should be that "smart brother" ISN'T named JEB?

Bush campaign lied about meeting with Black Lives Matter activists

If you were su ious on hearing the news that Jeb Bush, of all people, had a "face to face" meeting with Black Lives Matter activists in order to address their concerns, you were right. It turns out the Bush campaign simply lied about it.

There was a meeting, but no activists from the Black Lives Matter movement participated.

Instead, Bush met with a local elected official, a GOP lobbyist and a staffer from an anti-poverty organization. [...]

There were three people at the table with Bush.

Hooks confirmed that a member of his staff [from the Las Vegas Urban League] was one of them.

North Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem Pamela Goynes-Brown was the second, and she said the third attendee was Sean Fellows, a registered lobbyist for a communications firm who once ran as a Republican candidate for state assembly.

And without disparaging any of those fine people, none of them are, you will note, activists in the Black Lives Matter campaign and the movement itself was not discussed during the 15-minute meeting.

It may be that Jeb Bush and the people surrounding him genuinely cannot tell the difference between Black Lives Matter activists and
a group of other people, some of whom are black, or it may be that a member of the Urban League, a local mayor and a registered lobbyist is about the most grassrootsy crowd the Bush campaign is willing to meet with (commoners give him hives), or it may be that the Black Lives Matter activists were indeed invited to the meeting but got stuck in traffic and nobody on Jeb's staff noticed their absence—but the Jeb campaign pointedly said he met with Black Lives Matter activists before their disruption of his Las Vegas event. And Jeb pointedly did no such thing.

Jeb Bush Calls Common Core ‘Poisonous,’ Forgets He Actually Supports It

Former Florida governor and GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush had an awkward conversation about Common Core education standards this week, calling the initiative’s name “poisonous” while attempting to appeal to conservatives who oppose the program — even though he supports it.

While speaking at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines on Friday, former Florida governor Bush tried to talk his way around a question about the Common Core Standards Initiative, an education policy initiated by the National Governors Association that tries to bring education standards into alignment nationwide.

“The term ‘Common Core’ is so darn poisonous, I don’t even know what it means,” Bush said. “[But] I’m for higher standards — state-created, locally implemented — where the federal government has no role in the creation of standards, content or curriculum.”

The evasive answer appears to be an attempt to sidestep widespread Republican opposition to the policy, which is rooted in the misconception that it amounts to a “federal takeover” of the education system — even though the standards were created by state governors, not the federal government, and developed at the state level.

    http://thinkprogress.org/election/20...tely-supports/

Repug/tea bagger LIE: Common Core is a Federal fascistic, authoritarian takeover of education, violating (secessionist) "states rights".

... but it's lies that really get you dumb rednecks and Bible humpers lathered up.

Jeb is just ing stupid. His FL is dead set against roof top solar and 1000s of jobs, while protecting the utilities.

nothing specific from Jeb, just drill baby drill in the "tough oil" Arctic. I bet S continues to fail up there. what's the price of Arctic oil per barrel? cheaper than US continental fracked oil. which already a lot more expensive than M/E oil?

Top Jeb Bush Adviser Vin Weber Signs to Lobby for Anti-Gay Uganda Government

A top adviser to the Jeb Bush campaign has signed on to lobby for Uganda’s virulently anti-gay government.

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni last year signed into law a bill that criminalizes sexuality, with some acts punishable by life in prison. The move was widely condemned, both internationally and within the United States. President Barack Obama sharply criticized the anti-gay law, telling Museveni that it would “complicate our valued relationship” and mark a “step backward” for all Ugandans.

In desperate need to improve its image in Washington, Uganda has turned to Vin Weber, a well-connected lobbyist who is advising Bush’s presidential campaign.

Uganda hired Mercury Public Affairs, Weber’s firm, for a $50,000 per month retainer with Weber as the only registered lobbyist on the account. The contract calls for Mercury to provide general “lobbying services” as well as communication services to promote trade and investment opportunities in Uganda.

Weber joined the Bush campaign effort in February as an outside advisor. According to the Washington Post, Weber has worked behind the scenes todevelop ties between Bush and major donors and conservative leaders. He told the Post in June that he intends to “coordinate policy” for the campaign.

Do you have backup for the Texas job loss? Not necessisarily disagreeing. Just curious.

Ah...my bad. I was specifically thinking of energy jobs. And maybe DMX was talking about the broader number like you. But thanks for posting because it answered my question as well.

We're losing energy jobs too of course. A quick google search will reveal that. Baker Hughes, S , Chevron, Marathon, Halliburton have each announced or already enacted layoffs in the thousands.

Thanks. It would make sense. I didn't know the extent. And was guessing that other states with more marginal plays might have fared worse. But the gross number including the collateral damage was pretty staggering.

Holy . I didn't realize they could drill wells on that small of spacing. I'm assuming adjacent wells are drilling to different formations?

These rigs are stacked (i.e., doing nothing).

Although dual or triple completion wells are not uncommon.

These share a bore but complete at different depths. The pumpjacks can look pretty wheels off.

Oh damn. I thought you were making a joke about the stacked rigs all drilling into the same master bore.
I realize what stacked rigs are but was trying to be funny.

Although pics from Kilgore during the East Tx boom have rigs set up not too dissimilar.

    JEB, in sync with Americans

Jeb! Bush Thinks We Haven't Given the NSA Enough Power to Spy on Us

He’s trailing an openly misogynistic troll doll in the polls, but Jeb Bush has outdone his opponents in the “slavish praise for the government’s surveillance apparatus” department. Bush thinks we need more NSA surveillance, not less.

“There’s a place to find common ground between personal civil liberties and NSA doing its job,” Jeb! said at a national security conference in South Carolina today. “I think the balance has actually gone the wrong way.”

Bush reaffirmed his belief that the NSA’s old policies didn’t do to our civil liberties, and were necessary to thwart “evildoers”:

Bush doubled down Tuesday on his assertions that there is “no evidence” the data collection violated civil liberties. “I’ve found not one” case, he said.

Bush also criticized private technology firms for using encryption to make it harder for their customers to be surveilled. “It makes it harder for the American government to do its job while protecting civil liberties to make sure evildoers aren’t in our midst,” he said.

But here’s the frightening part: Bush might actually mean some of the hawkish twaddle he’s peddling. Back in April, he called supporting the NSA “the best part of the Obama administration.”

In February, he called the NSA’s data collection “responsible” and “hugely important.”

The only thing scarier than an empty suit is a true believer.
