For 's sake he isn't talking about "enjoying" he's talking about "understanding." And while I think this thread is a bit of a joke, there are some movies that fall in that category of movies women probably can't appreciate as much as men. The only ones I'd genuinely include are Stand By Me, The Sandlot, Lawrence of Arabia, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Gallipoli, Fight Club. I'm sure there's more. It's no coincidence all of these don't have any themes of romance and focus heavily on male comradery.
Scarface, Platoon, Dirty Harry, The Wild Bunch, Gladiator, Hurt Locker
Exactly. I'm talking about understanding the movie as a guy, not some higher intelligence. This thread is a good example of people getting offended over nothing imo
Leo's best performance coming thru
The Washington Post film critic Ann Hornaday negatively described Shutter Island as being "weird".

Again, taste isn't the big issue here, it's the complete n comprehensive understanding of the film itself.
Maalox probably watched Godfather II and treated it like a good flick
yeah it takes a real man's man to understand fight club. OMG THEY'RE THE SAME PERSON. CORPORATIONS
Love that movie; the Boston accents, the twists, the tragic ending. Great suspense movie
shutter island was in amazing
Pauly (my Jersey pinhead ) some girls don't play with dolls when they are young, they actually get out in the dirt and get into trouble. For s sakes The Sandlot is about kids being resourceful, inventing games, and creating imaginary mean people. It's a kids story ya Jersey meathead. And Yes, there are still Tomboys.

I got led around on that one. Quite incredible.
Now this belongs imo.
For some reason absurd humor does not seem to appeal to most American women.
Most of the girls/women I know who like MP are a bit nerdy. This is interesting.

Sure, but you can say the same thing with dumbass penises.
I don't really know what kind of women you guys hang out with, but there's some smart Vaginas out there..![]()
Damn right.
Yep, that's what it's about
Too bad you're talking about a minority. I understand liberals loathe generalizations and gender normative behavior is a new hot topic but you can't argue against biology. Get over it
*pro-tip: I'm not actually Pauly D or from Jersey*
Jeez yall are some white knight losers. This isn't about intelligence. Film is art and every kind of art is better interpreted and appreciated by certain people more than others
You guys who keep using the word "understand" are the ones making it about intelligence. Maybe start saying that there are some films that women can't relate to and I'll agree. But you guys are still pretty wrong with the films you are naming. I've been a Monty Python fan most of my life and I've seen and liked (and even understood!!!) every film you all have mentioned. Gallipoli and Lawrence of Arabia are on my top 10 favorite films of all time. And while I cannot personally relate to the experience between men fighting a war, you can't either---unless you have fought in a war next to other guys. I know you all can't necessarily personally relate to Bridget Jones' Diary, but I know you are capable of understanding it.
Maa, it's not that. Why are you so mad? Try to understand that I do want you as a fan. I just don't want you to do some crazy
I seen this one on the news a couple weeks ago that made me sick
Some dude was drunk and drove his car over a bridge
and had his girlfriend in the trunk, and she was pregnant with his kid
and in the car they found a tape, but they didn't say who it was to
Come to think about it, his name was... it was you
Damn!
Oh shut up, let's go shoe shopping!!
I'm down. LOL
I need some more running shoes and some just kickin' it shoes.
Maalox: "OMG how tragic is it for Leo to regress!!! Lobotomy nooooo"
You sure like talking out of your ass huh?![]()
ty superficial take. One of FC's themes is about the loss of and attempt to regain male iden y. Think of lines like, "our fathers were our models for god, if our father's bailed, what does that tell you about god," or the middle children of history monologue.
My old lady doesn't need to understand a movie to enjoy it.
