Sick and tired of crappy blurry screens when watching the Spurs. I swear the old box tv's looked better. Any recommendations? Best setup?

Hard to go wrong with Samsung LEDs with 120 or 240hz "clear motion" pictures -- though numbers above 120 are bunk. Almost anything with a 120+ refresh rate will look good these days. Just make sure you can turn the higher rate off -- it makes regular broadcasts look weird (soap opera effect).
Of course you can get a plasma tv but they are harder and harder to find.
I don't have anything. I moved and sold most of my stuff. I had a 32 inch Samsung. Looking for the best all around picture. Size doesn't matter much. Do they have those at best buy? I really only use TV for watching sports so movies/shows don't matter much.
And by all around I mean sports.
Samsungs are available pretty much everywhere but most name brands are pretty good (Sony, LG, Vizio, etc.). Get one with 1080 resolution and a 120+ refresh rate and you should be happy. Also make sure your cable box is hooked up with an HDMI cable and the box is set to 1080i output.
thanks man. I appreciate it. Does the price of the hdmi cable matter? Ive seen some pretty cheap and expensive ones.
Yeah. Practically no difference at all. They all deliver the 1s and 0s.

I have 2 Vizio's, and I've never had any issues with them.
Yeah. I bought a cheap brand once and instantly regretted it. Picture sucked.
So there me and my son are walking toward the TV's at Target. From way back three pictures stood out from all the rest. Getting close enought to read.....SAMSUNG.
The best huge picture, the best big screen and the best small screen.
Probably Beats. They're ing undefeatable.

Best TV for sports and gaming would definitely be a plasma. But as mentioned, they're becoming more of a rarity when buying new.
No difference in signal quality between the cheapest and most expensive HDMI.
The more herts your TV has the best thing is a myth. Don't buy into that.
Fact is, you don't need more than the standard 60 hertz. You can't speed up an image if the source inherently tops out at 60 frames per second. With today's technology TVs are no longer suffering from the ghosting effect. This was something that happened with the early models of when HDTVs were coming out. That's really a non issue these days.
I have 2 37 inch 1080p Vizios and a 40 inch JVC. Both 60hertz and all 3 look beautiful. Although the Vizios tend to have more deeper and darker colors than the JVC.
True about "hertz". At least in a TV vs a monitor. It's all marketing crap to draw you in.
In a TV the base refresh rate is 60 hz.. The TV's processor will then add in extra frames created from that base signal to make the movement appear smoother.. That sometimes leads to the motion blur or weird soap opera effect.
If you want a set with deep blacks (probably not important since you're primarily watching sports) plasma again is the best choice, unless you can afford an AMOLED from Samsung.
You're more than likely going to wind up with an LCD. The LED models have brighter whites vs traditional backlit LCD, but make sure to get a model that has "local dimming" (multiple LED lights behind the screen in zones vs LED's only arranged on the edge of the screen) because the edge lits cause some really annoying backlight bleed in dark scenes.
