Too busy stuffing their faces with nachos xxx large imo
I never understood why American sports fans don't sing at games like Europeans do at football and apparently basketball matches. It would seem like an awesome way to get fans more intensely involved in the game instead of just chanting DE - FENSE over and over :\ maybe the Spurs or Jazz can bring that back from Eurobasket :P lol
btw anyone know what song all the French fans seem to be chanting before and after every single Eurobasket game in France? it's freakin' stuck in my head now :P
also anyone else notice how ed up the French National Anthem's lyrics sound if the 18th century historical perspective is put aside?
Too busy stuffing their faces with nachos xxx large imo
Probably because we are American.
The crowd sings in college sports I'm pretty sure
So ing true.
Partizan Belgrade fans (Milutinov's ex club):
This is after game that we lose by 16. Half an hour/hour after game. Still full arena and chanting without stopping. And than players returned to the court to greet fans (5:50 1st, 3:57 2nd video):
americans just say "defense defense"![]()
It's all a matter of what folks identify with the most which is why it exists in college/high school football/basketball since Americans have excessive school pride meanwhile professional sports are viewed in the same light as pop/commercial music & most of the HARDCORE fans are folks who never went to college (or went to one w/ a crappy sports program) or love to gamble. Since college/high sports aren't that big in Europe they channel all their pride towards pro sports.
As far as international sporting events, America is also a nation of immigrants thus the level of nationalism on display isn't close to most European nation unless it's a redneck screaming "USA! USA! USA!" while waving his confederate flag at an NRA rally.
England is a nation of immigrants yet they're still more vocal at games than Americans..
Or sleeping.
Those god damn trumpets though. I genuinely feel sorry for the poor bas that has to sit next to that all game long.
In Europe the noisemaking is a carryover from soccer -- and soccer fans started with the noise because the game is so excruciatingly boring otherwise.
The way things are going, those chants will probably be banned under Sharia law anyway.
Are you seriously comparing England to America?......Maybe you meant Australia or some shyt.
It actually fueled by alcohol (esp in England); we all know how drunk people love to sing. The carryover of the chants into sports in Eastern Europe (the most prideful fans) is also from the communist youth groups rallies.
In American you have baseball games where people bored out of their minds go to the games & take naps (which is the reason for the 7 inning stretch aka wake up alarm....so people can actually wake up & catch the end of the game). Otherwise the only chant is corny stuff such as "MVP! MVP! MVP!"

ALLEZ LES BLEUS!!!
What about the South African fans & their Vuvuzela which ended up getting banned at the 2010 WC b/c the European players kept complaining about it. As far as the college bands, they actually have their own section & it's close to the student section. The students are drunk out of their minds to even care about the noise or their ear drums.
Euro's would be wasting their time chanting "defense".
euro teams also have rivalries that carry on from religion/politics etc
look at this greek basketball league game
from 1:00 on a bunch of start exploding lol
Spurs fans should start an Ultras!
completely false. What an infantile opinion on the subject
In all fairness club fans in Europe and other countries is like gangs. You belong to that team and you associate with mainly fans of that team. Even your family members are usually fans of same team.
In US club sports are not like this. It's more like McDonalds where you can belong to any team and its pretty much the same shut. No loyalty
The chants are originated because u hang out with equal fans and drink with equal fans. In US once you leave the arena you're just another monkey
Also its equivalent to battle cries. There are no battle cries in US because the fans are usually so fat they can't even get up off their seats
