Meh, there have been numerous instances of "su ious devices", both real and fake, brought to schools. They take that pretty seriously these days. The fact that it started making noises in the kid's backpack probably didn't help.
meh, cops have the resources to determine what is/isn't a bomb. interrogating, arresting and sending him to jail without doing their due diligence is pretty unprofessional and reckless on their parts.
He's not the first and he won't be the last.

Actually, they both screwed up. The cops should be sued for wrongful arrest and not allowing the kid an opportunity to contact his legal guardian. The school for suspending him after they found out that it was just a clock and not a bomb. This kid will get a fat settlement that should take care of his college expenses - the Texas taxpayer will pick up the tab.
