Bev's problem is he can't pass to save his life.
so they wasted a no.2 pick and wants to trade for lawson....roflmao fakers
Bev's problem is he can't pass to save his life.
Not sure what the big deal is. Rox offered more they got who they wanted good for them. Not sure why this is funny seem to be reaching here Double you can make fun of real issues with the Lakers outbidding the Lakers for Lawson is not one of them ...
We gave them trash, how the couldn't the Lakers outbid trash? You have to admit it is pretty funny, especially when you just drafted a PG.![]()
This team has DEPTH.
PG Lawson/Beverley/Terry
SG Harden/Brewer/Thornton
SF Ariza/Dekker/McDaniels
PF Motiejunas/Jones/Harrell/Alan Williams
C Howard/Capela
Harden did pretty damn fine the last time he played with a scoring PG...
Lawson comes with EC baggage, so his value comes down a bit.
I woke up this morning for work, saw this and almost called in. The west is going to be bananas again.
More like:
Jones/Motiejunas/Harrell
Ariza/Brewer/Dekker
Howard/Capela/Hayes
Harden/Thornton/McDaniels
Lawson/Beverley/Terry
It's possible Motiejunas starts over Jones, but either way, expect a nine man rotation, with Brewer and Beverley splitting the backup SG minutes.
They're deep, no question, but they might be too deep, as far players who likely expect to be in the rotation. How will at least two of Terry, Thornton and McDaniels handle being non rotation players? And if they do play ten, how will Brewer and Beverley handle more limited minutes off the bench?
Lawson has to come off the bench. Harden would not stand for someone dominating the ball like Lawson.
Last time ire the Rockets tried to play a ball dominant guard with Harden both their efficiencies went down. It's obvious Ty Lawson will play on the second unit while Beverly plays on the first unit. McHale wants his starting point guard to pass the ball and make the occasional three pointer. Play defense. That's not Ty Lawson. However having Lawson on the second unit gives the bench a lot more offensive punch. The three guard rotation of Lawson, Beverly and Terry will be a formidable guard trio.
What ball dominant guard did they play with Harden?
From grantland
Sure, Lawson “needs” the ball, but that doesn’t mean he’s ineffective in a secondary role. He’ll touch it plenty; Harden sucks entire defenses toward him as he dribbles up high on the pick-and-roll, and if he spots Lawson’s defender tiptoeing into the paint, Harden can whip the ball to his new teammate. Give Lawson a head start like that, and you’re toast. Diversity is healthy, anyway. Houston badly needs a secondary creator so that Harden can play fewer minutes and do less heavy lifting when he’s on the floor. He can be a capable spot-up shooter, too.
Houston’s offense died all season with Harden on the bench. Things got especially embarrassing in the conference finals, when Golden State outscored the Rockets by 36 points in the 41 minutes Harden rested, per NBA.com. The series was almost dead even with Harden on the court, and if Lawson commits, Houston should be able to at least survive when Harden sits. Lawson can carry second units even if he starts, provided Kevin McHale staggers minutes properly.
Ty Lawson allows final season of contract to become unguaranteed, puts $13,213,482 on the line
Dan Feldman Jul 20, 2015, 6:13 PM EDT
Ty Lawson really wanted out of Denver.
The point guard, as a condition of his trade from the Nuggets to the Rockets, agreed to alter his contract.
Previously, he was owed $12,404,495 this season and $13,213,482 next season – both years guaranteed.
Zach Lowe of Grantland:
Trading for Lawson, who’s been arrested twice for DUI in the last six months, was already a risk worth taking for the Rockets. This news makes it an even better bet than previously thought.
If Lawson struggles this season – on or off the court – Houston can just waive him before the 2016-17 season begins with no cap hit.
It’s unclear whether Lawson got a guarantee date for that season. If he didn’t, the Rockets could use his contract as a major trade chip next summer if he’s not worth the money on the court. The Cavaliers are shopping Brendan Haywood‘s deal the same way this summer, though such a contract has more value now before the salary cap shoots up. (Update: Lawson has a June guarantee date, according to Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders.)
More immediately, Lawson is betting on himself in a major way – and it might work.
I think his personal and professional issues are related. Lawson clearly hasn’t been happy with the Nuggets, and although that doesn’t excuse his actions, it might explain them. People are more likely to stay on the straight and narrow when the straight and narrow offers a fulfilling existence.
Simply, I think Lawson is more likely to stay sober when that means a spot on a high-end team than he was willing to stay sober for a spot on a lottery squad.
More than $13 million will only increase Lawson’s motivation.
This isn’t a silver bullet to getting Lawson healthy, but it gives him more incentive not to drink. He clearly sees the upside, too. He had to agree to reduce the protected compensation in his contract.
Lawson has talked about leaving Denver, avoiding legal troubles, being a good NBA citizen.
He just put his money where his mouth is.
W-O-W!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I repeat
W-O-W!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lawson on potentially coming off the bench.
2 midgets at the point plus terrys dead corpse. Good thing for Houston is they wont matter cause hardon n is going to hog the ball anyways![]()
Now McHale saying that Ty ain't guaranteed as the starter.
Rockets coach Kevin McHale raved about the skills Ty Lawson will bring and how well those skills will fit. He would not, however, assume that Lawson will start over the in bent at the point, Pat Beverley, or how the minutes will be distributed.
“They’ll determine that,” McHale said before a Rockets event on Tuesday to unveil three new alternate uniforms. “We’ll find out. Can we play them together? Maybe. We’ll put them out there. We had 28 days of camp. We’ll decide who will get the lion’s share of the minutes. One will and one will be a backup.”
When he spoke to the crowd later, McHale praised Lawson, but said he has to return to his level of play prior to last season.
“Ty last year had a very average year in Denver compared to what he had done before,” McHale said. “(Former Nuggets coach) George Karl runs a little bit more of an open offense like we run here, get up and down, attack. We want Ty to do what he does best, get in the paint, make plays for others, scoring.
“Since we had (Goran) Dragic, he’ll probably be our best guy at getting in the paint and then throwing out from the paint. He can make all the passes. And he’s got to get back to playing better defense. He’s got to be the head of the snake defensively. He can. I’ve seen him.
“If he just does what he does well, he’ll be a fit for us.

You watch, Lawson will be the designated go stand in the corner guard while Hard On do his thing. If you're open you best be hitting that open jay.
Um, if Harden is double teamed with Lawson on the court, Lawson can just drive in to the basket.
You need a ball to drive in to the basket
Harden will pass it. You don't average 7 assists a game by not passing.
Tell that to Steve Francis and Allen Iverson...![]()
Everything will work out though...it's all good.
