I'd think it's a near 100% certainty that UIL will ban him; at the very least, he's not hirable after all of this, so even if he isn't banned forever from coaching, it's highly unlikely that anyone will give him another shot at it, and that's a proper response to this, I think.
But, interestingly, today's story from OTL further undermines the calls to shut down the entire program, since the Head Coach acted like a leader in the immediate aftermath of the game. On the bus ride home, he had already decided that the players would be dismissed and he learned that the assistant coach had told them to take action against the official. He didn't just sit on that information because it might be embarrassing or difficult; he took what he learned to his supervisors and told them what he knew right away, which is precisely what he should have done. The head coach didn't try to act like this never happened or that it wasn't a big deal. He took precisely the right steps and it would be asinine to cut off the entire program in light of that display of leadership. The kids who remain on that team will benefit from exposure to that sort of accountability and will learn something about dealing with adversity (and maybe even succeeding in spite of adversity).
You guys, this poor man is still suffering from physical injuries and other disorders including short term memory loss and fever. This man was brutalized. Definitely not trying to cash in at all.
