Off topic. Ad hominem, general fart sniffery.
Yeah, I swear people have no idea what that actually means.
Off topic. Ad hominem, general fart sniffery.
Irony alert.

Here it is.
They conducted two online studies with over 1,200 people, giving personality tests to each subject along with a survey about their Internet commenting behavior. They were looking for evidence that linked trolling with the "Dark Tetrad" of personality traits: narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism.
They found that Dark Tetrad scores were highest among people who said trolling was their favorite Internet activity. To get an idea of how much more prevalent these traits were among Internet trolls, see this figure from the paper:
Look at how low the Dark Tetrad scores are for everyone except the trolls! Their scores for all four traits soar on the chart. The relationship between trolling and the Dark Tetrad is so significant that the authors write in their paper:
"... the associations between sadism and GAIT (Global Assessment of Internet Trolling) scores were so strong that it might be said that online trolls are prototypical everyday sadists." [emphasis added]
Except Ahmed is aware of it. He said his friends asked him if bin laden was his uncle and why he did 9/11. Ahmed also said he had been called a terrorist before
Most don't. PopTech couldn't tell the difference between ad hominem and mere insult either. Drove him nuts when insulted him, then pointed out he was using the term wrong.
Sure, but aware to what extent? The conspiracy theorists seem so think Ahmed has a really nuanced understanding of at udes formed by 9/11 to the extent that he could fully exploit them to his personal gain or at least serve his political agenda while acting ambiguously enough to get away with it. Am I getting this right or am i missing something?
This thread has run its course. I think we all agree now that this situation is very gray. People are keen to say who's more at fault when we should be concerned about fixing all of the problems. Police messed up. School didn't handle it the best way. Ahmed was either naive or mischievous. Society jumped the gun. This went wrong for a lot of different reasons, and this type of thing won't be prevented if we don't deal with all of them.

I am describing people like these:

If you feel I am describing you or someone else here feels I am describing him, that is not my problem.
Do you have an opinion about the situation, gtown, or are you just going to paste some more Wikipedia headings?
95k troll post with no substantive arguments and name calling.. nope that doesn't describe me.
Didn't ignignokt tell you?
He goes to UNT law school... gotta show off dem latin legal terms to earn dat street cred, playazzz.
How would you describe yourself on this forum, gtown?
less invested in forum e cred than you
Are you sure about that? Because to me, it seems that you are kind of bitter that more people don't acknowledge your intelligence in the amount or ways that you would like.
Another conspiracy theory is that Islamophobic teachers, administrators, and police in Texas (it's always Texas) conspired to humiliate and persecute a bright, young inventor because he is a Muslim. And that this NEVER would have happened if he wasn't a boy with brown skin named Ahmed.
the kid deliberately trolled the intended.
and you took the bait. the intended are still taking the bait.
like clockwork.
I don't think they conspired to do that at all. I would describe it as cascading overreactions. Islamophobia may or may not have had something to do with it. It's not like Ahmed hadn't experienced Islamophobia before.
No collaboration between parties would be necessary for all to overreact.
I see what you did there.![]()
