I'm not necessarily aboard the whole every player from history is compared to today's players, but the funniest one I've seen is Bob Cousy dribbling. Even when I was like 8 I would laugh at those videos.

PRE-Merge NBA was the equivalent of the early 90s NCAA w/o the majority of black players.......I guess the perfect example is the Laettner led Duke teams that had an uncle tom in Grant Hill. Jimmer, Adam Morrison, McBuckets, Re would have been superstars if they played in pre-merger NBA b/c it was more of a team game than individual 1-on-1 talent & they wouldn't have to face elite athletes unlike the ABA. On the other hand, athletes w/ 1-on-1 talent would be restricted playing in the NCAA (i.e. Jordan/Grant Hill).

Pistol Pete is one player from the 70s that would definitely be a superstar in today's guard friendly NBA but he was criticized for being flashy b/c he was ahead of his time.

Durant has UNLIMITED range & uses his length to shoot over defender meanwhile Ice was a mid-range guy & who used his length to finish around the rim. Durant also has the best handles for anyone his size & Ice had one of the quickest first steps for a small forward. People make the comparison b/c they have a similar physique, play the same position & could score in their sleep.

Durant is more like a lankier but less athletically gifted T-Mac & Ice in today's NBA would be something like PRIME Antawn Jamison (had every scoop shot in the books).

Bird looked bad even in the era he was playing in - a slow white guy. But you only need a half quick first step and a jump shot and you could score in any era. Magic's passing was pretty awesome and he would still dominate. Both players would get destroyed on defense today though.
