that's not moving the goal posts at all. my position is the same, the moderate rebels thing was always a lie. they were never any sizable amount of the opposition. it was always Assad vs terrorists and it's only grown more apparent over time.

it was never very many that's for sure. definitely not enough to topple the assad government and hold that much territory, fighting back isis. our government knew that and so do you.

Probably 3% of the population, or about 780,000 in Syrias case. There case was unique because it was two front. In order to both beat Assad AND keep any of there territory from falling into Isis hands it would take more.

apples and oranges comparison. my country isn't being invaded by terrorists. silently but not overtly like in syria anyway. if obama tried to conscript me it would be for another bogus offensive overseas war, not a defensive one to protect the us mainland.
yeah just google the american revolutionary war. actually 3% is the lowest example i could think of, most other historical revolutions required more than that. but syria would need at LEAST that many to even have a snowball's chance. we knew that there were never anywhere near a million "moderate rebels." they just wanted assad gone so they started handing out weapons to anyone who would use them.
What does Assad do for the moderate Syrian that would make him want to defend his regime?

offered stability, relative prosperity, and safety while he was in power. christians could live in syria in peace before all of this, once isis showed up they started throwing them off buildings.
hater already posted one, we gave weapons and they were delivered directly to al nusra. we literally hand out weapons to anyone who will use them in hopes that assad will fall.
