That's interesting. I would have no problem with him on the staff so long as he has no say so in distribution of minutes. He would play kawhi 49 minutes a game.

I bet apo would like that though. I couple of games of Tony playing 40 plus minutes might cause him to lose a few pounds or maybe have a heart attack. One could argue that is a win win no matter the result.

I seem to remember Messina coaching a game or two when pop was out. What I remember is that I thought he over played a few guys. But it was early in the season though. Anyone think he might be the same way as thibs?

he is already itching to coach again and not enjoying the forced break from his Chicago sacking..I think he is probably back next season with Lakers or Cavs

I doubt he would accept an assistant job, but he really could learn some offense from Pop. He's a great defense coach, so the Spurs could see some interest too.

Tom's not looking for a job,and I doubt he would want to be a Spurs assistant coach again.

You don't understand how much he hates Chicago's FO and ownership. He will sit out and collect every dollar they owe him.

i'm sorry why is he so highly regarded?

He was essentially the HC for the 2008 champs(one of the best teams of all-time), and overachieved every year with ty Bulls rosters post-2011..top 5 coach in a league full of ty coaches..

Definitely needs to adjust his at ude, though..a coach like Pop only works well because of his resume and Duncan/Ginobili as leaders, you can't coach millennials with an antiquated, hard-ass approach..

I doubt he'll coach another team with as many divas/pussies as the Bulls had, though, exacerbated by their meddlesome front office..

He had a rough time in Chicago with a broken roster missing its greatest player for long stretches due to injury--but he still had them playing compe ively for most of his tenure. Coaches always get fired when the breaks (trades, injuries, etc.) go against them. It's a cheap fix for the FO to show the fans they are trying.

He's lauded as a great defensive coach for his work in Boston and Chicago but he had a prime KG anchoring the D in Boston and he had Deng/Butler + Noah in Chiacago. Combine that with his e snail pace offense (either by design or otherwise) and of course his defensive numbers look good. Once he went more offensive with Pau last year they went from 2nd to 11th in def rating...

i have read recently that he is isn't again the idea of getting to a low key gig that grants him plenty of power, possibly GM/coach position like Van Gundy in Detroit...not many out there and owners have balked after seeing GM Doc and even SVG one year..looking at the possible opening in next year or so, only the Cavs provide a chance for instant winning..my guess he is going to end up in post Kobe Lakers; Wizards or maybe Mavericks post Carlisle..

^^ I hope not, since I'm a fan of his, and the GM/HC dual role typically results in a poor product(regardless of sport)..each role should be exclusive to one party..
