NCRI - The Iranian regime on Monday amputated the hand and foot of an inmate in a prison in Mashhad, northeast Iran.[/FONT]
The prisoner, only identified as Rahman K. had his right hand and left foot severed by the authorities.
He was accused by the regime of committing a bank heist along with an associate, identified as Mehdi R. Both were pronounced by the authorities to be “moharebeh,” or “waging war on God.”
Both men received the same sentence. It is not known when Mehdi’s sentence will be implemented or if it has already been done so.
According to the state-run daily Khorasan both men will continue to serve an extended prison sentence as well.
On June 28 this year the fundamentalist regime amputated the fingers of two prisoners in the same prison in Mashhad.
One of the victims, identified only by the initials M. E., was a 26-year-old resident of Mashhad. The second victim was not identified by the state-run media; but one report simply stated that this young man was transferred from Khorasan Jonubi Province to the same prison in Mashhad where the sentence was carried out.
State media claimed that the two men had been convicted of theft.
Amnesty International condemned the amputation of the fingers of the two Iranian prisoners.
“These brutal punishments flagrantly violate international law and there is no place for them in the criminal justice system. The punishment of amputation is torture, a crime under international law,” Amnesty International said in a statement on July 1.
In May 2015, a high ranking Iranian cleric, who is the representative of the regime’s Supreme Leader in Hormozgan province (southern Iran), called for more inhumane punishments of hand amputations to be carried out.
While visiting Mashhad, Ghulam-Ali Naeem Abadi said: “If the hands of a few of those who commit theft in society are cut off, they would serve as examples for others and security will be restored.”
“Security would be restored in society by amputating a few fingers; why then are such punishments not being fully implemented?” he asked.
Last December, the United Nations General Assembly slammed the flagrant violations of human rights by the Iranian regime.
The resolution criticized the Iranian regime's use of inhuman punishments, including flogging and amputations.
The UN’s 61st resolution on human rights abuses in Iran also censured the mullahs’ dictatorship for the rise in executions, public hangings and the execution of juveniles.
The Iranian regime unveiled a terrifying device in 2013 which is uses to chop off fingers. The device that looks like something devised for a grisly horror movie operates as a circular saw that guillotines prisoners’ fingers.
Since Hassan Rouhani took office as president of the clerical regime, more than1,800 people have been executed and hundreds more have been subjected to degrading and inhumane punishments such as amputation, flogging in public and being paraded in streets.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has repeatedly condemned the medieval punishments carried out by the clerical regime in Iran and has called for the referral of the regime's appalling human rights record to the UN Security Council.

A fight that broke out between two groups of students at Northern Arizona University’s Flagstaff campus left one person dead and three hospitalized after one of the students shot the others with a handgun.
The shooter has been identified as Steven Jones, an 18-year-old freshman at the school, who has been taken into custody by campus police, according to NAU police chief Greg Fowler.
Colin Brough has been identified by the school as the student who was killed in the incident, and Nicholas Prato, Kyle Zientek and Nicholas Piring were named as the individuals who were shot but are being treated at Flagstaff Medical Center.

Fowler said that the altercation started at 1:20 a.m. when "several of our students, two separate student groups got into a confrontation."
Campus police arrived at the scene and apprehended Jones "without further trouble," Fowler said.
It is unclear what sparked the shooting, which took place near Mountain View Hall, a dormitory that houses most of the campus' students involved in Greek organizations.
Fowler said that none of the violence happened inside any residence halls.
Fowler said that the school's alert messaging was sent out "rather quickly," but a student who was in the audience at the new conference this morning told Fowler that he received the text alert at 2:52 a.m., more than an hour and a half after the shooting. Fowler said that "sometimes it takes us a little bit of time to stabilize the information" but added that the text was "a precautionary measure" as opposed to one telling students to actively take cover.
Fowler noted that the Arizona Board of Regents prohibits students form carrying guns around campus but students are allowed to store them in their car.
The state school's Flagstaff campus has more than 20,000 students enrolled.
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., released the following statement this morning:
"My thoughts and prayers are with families of the person who was killed and the three others who were wounded in the horrific shooting on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff early this morning. I appreciate the efforts of all state and local law enforcement officials, first-responders and school administrators, and continue to pray for the recovery of the injured, as well as all those in the NAU community who have been impacted by this terrible tragedy."
