He's the only player in the team that is a real rookie (despite being 26 years old already).
Consider though that Williams and Butler both are priced at the Vet. Minimum level.
I really don't want to think that Simmons has his job on the line. I think it is more realistic to think that Bonner, Jimmer, Butler and Williams are all fighting for the two open slots.
Besides, Simmons is locked up for 2 years. 2nd year is a team option. You don't give away that kind of flexibility on a bad performance in preseason.
He's the only player in the team that is a real rookie (despite being 26 years old already).
Why should Aldridge be in the commercials when he hasn't done a darn thing for the Spurs???
The Spurs may not even have cap space next off-season, so Simmons' second year doesn't matter. It's pretty standard for a team to sign d-leaguers for two years but still cut them a couple months later. Obviously, the team liked him enough to give him $525k guaranteed. That's a lot of money. But it's just not enough to save him by itself.
Because this is business, he will help to sell and that's how it works.
Heard from my sources that Aldridge is really struggling so far. Sounds like there's a good chance we could enter negotiations with Atlanta regarding a Tiago/Aldridge swap.
Presuming you forgot the blue font.
Because he signed with the Spurs, thus making him the biggest free agent signing in Spur's history. Besides, what's the big deal over Aldridge being in a fun, HEB commercial?
Heard from my sources' sources' sources the trade package will include Bazemore. Simmons' days in San Antonio are numbered.
He's also an Texas longhorns celebrity, and a Dallas guy. He's already an all star, and a local star.
Not really an relevant issue but would anyone be surprised if Parker still appears in heb commercials long after retiring based on his name value? I think Tim stops asap at retirement and manu leaves the country. But if no new spurs are marketable and heb writes big checks, I see Parker add the most likely hold over, Manu, and Tim being the least.
and then...
I think he could be struggling to catch on to the pass happy Spurs. I'll give you that, particularly bc its tough to reprogram someone at 30, but also because several guys' roles have changed. The system is apparently moving away from a focus on Tim/Tony to LMA/Kawhi. I expect for it to cause some growing pains for everyone and chemistry takes more than a week and half to build. But the meltdown is premature...
'coz Boris Diaw and Danny Green, bigger contributors to the Spurs legacy aren't in the commercials.
All this bum has done has been to collect a ridiculous salary from the Spurs. I mean, look at him, he looks out of shape. The only guy who is carry more fat than him is Boris Diaw.
hmmm I am detecting a LMA hate vibe b4 the guy has even played a game. I think after the Tony-hate crew, there is going to be LMA-hate crew. Wow! lol
I could have sworn Simmons was fully guaranteed..
Just the first year, $525k. That's smaller than Jimmer's $534k and Bonner's ~$800k
Cool - I thought that as well, but Jeff seemed to think both years..

Cheers for posting.
David is getting me really excited about the second unit.
Reporter: "Have you ever been on a unit before like that second unit?"
West: "Nooooooooooooooooooooo! (smiles) Yeah, it is going to be fun."

Very interesting how Manu reflects on the fact that he's probably not going to be playing 25 mins this season, and makes reference to the fact that Kyle has been playing really well and that the second unit in general has been doing really well in practices. It sounded like Kyle is probably going to start shouldering some playmaking as soon as this season, allowing Manu to be more selective with his spots and maybe even playing just 15 mins. a game in some cases. I am really excited for this second unit, because aside from Kyle, Patty is also in great shape and making shots. That second unit sounds like its ready to roll.
that was my favorite part for sure. west is chompin at the bit. i think the chemistry of that second unit is gonna be damn near league-best.
Agreed!
Manu interview revealed a ton of insight. Expectation that he's going to play less. Props to Anderson. Mention of Butler. That given that he didn't even watch the 2nd part of the last game.
Someone get chump got in here. Manu doesn't even watch his own teams full games.

I wonder what one liner ChumpDumper is going to use this time where he also completely ignores the topic.![]()
