Apparently US backed Kurds are razing villages. ing animals.

And US just dropped tons of weapons to them....
Most of these poor folks in the villages have to back the most recent occupier. They are forced to give the fighters food supplies, etc... Then when the next group comes in, they get used again or killed if it's a well fed militia with evidence the inhabitants aided the most recent occupier.

why doesnt syria just open a can of whoop ass and go direct to the source? attack saudis? instead of going after the small fry fighters in its country?
The Saudi Air Force is one of the best in the world. The have US trained pilots and top of the line planes.
And, Assad can't even win back his own country, the vast majority of his military is gone. The civil war has basically ruined Syria. Saudi Arabia was one of the few Arab countries that did not really see any sort of Arab Spring. Their secret police are effective, and their people are fat and happy for the most part. If you follow the rules, you will get taken care of in that country.

Not enough military strength honestly, we did a number on them. They need to just focus on taking back Syria.

The historical Caliphate, and the calls for and about that idea are very relevant to understanding ISIS and muslim extremism in general.

Why do you think recruiting tactics and cultural norms used by Daeshisn't relevant?
As relevant as the Holy Medieval Crusades tbqh
    Flawed analogy.

The Caliphate was a real country, not a series of invasions, and the barbarism in the crusades doesn't inspire nearly the way a grand center of learning and prosperity does.

Since your analogy has failed, you have yet to tell me why the actual recruiting tactics and cultural norms used by Daesh isn't relevant. I am assuming you can string together a coherent argument typing on a tiny keyboard on your phone, kid.

And we will have to address that, and bear some responsibility. This is a nasty war. Still, on balance, I would prefer the side razing villages to the one leaving ditches full of bodies, if I had to choose.

For those who want to get a better feel for Syrian military adventures.

The US, it appears by many accounts, is directly opposing Russian and Iranian ventures by giving non ISIS rebels aid. We are now witnessing a proxy war. Russia shows off its military capabilities with its technology, we give the rebels TOW missiles to destroy Syrians manning Russian tanks. The Iranians and Hezbollah, on the other hand, are apparently willing to have their people die for Assad on the ground. I don't think you will see Russian troops on the ground in numbers playing significant military roles because they will die, and it will be made public. Putin does not like to look bad in public, remove shirt please and swim in cold water...

For those of you thinking China would enter this mess, we got nada. As expected.

(shrugs) It still fails, sorry. The "Kingdom of Jerusalem" is not a romantic ideal to Christians the way the Caliphate is to a large section of the muslim population.

Anything else you want to desperately cobble together?

Honestly not even sure you have a coherent idea yet. Do you actually have a point about Daesh's recruiting tactics or not?

Iran's military isn't strong enough to eliminate ISIS. And yeah that was pretty stupid.
Iran has sufficient military strength to do so, if it chose to fully wade in. It lacks the will to do so, as of yet. It is a swamp that even the Iranians aren't itching to go full tilt into, despite their military commitment so far. The full scale invasion required though, would have a host of ramifications that they aren't prepared to accept.

Don't confuse capability with willingness to use that capability.

"Russia is making a strategic mistake" - Obama when asked if Putin is outsmarting him

There is a case for overplaying your hand, as Russia seems set to do.

The problem with autocratic leaders like Putin, is that they have no advisors that are willing to tell them their own limits, or potential flaws in their thinking.

    (shrugs)

I guess we will get to see.

It was observed by 30 countries and found to be legit, fail
including legislators and dignitaries from Iran

The Guardian reported on 17 June 2009 that an Iranian news website identified at least 30 polling sites with turnout over 100% and 200 sites with turnout over 95%.[104] On 21 June 2009, a spokesman from the Guardian Council (an organ of the Iranian government) stated that the number of votes cast exceeded the number of eligible voters in no more than 50 cities
employee of the Interior Ministry claiming that "the government had been preparing its fraud for weeks, purging anyone of doubtful loyalty and importing pliable staff members from around the country."[55]

Yeah, that government's opinion of elections is worth a ...

I think this is where I left off making fun of m>s list of "countries" that found Syria's elections legit.

the whole reason of the Kingdom of Jerusalem was to protect the Holy land from "infidels" and therefore gain the grace of God for the European populace.

Nationalistic countries that can't feed there own people, and are corrupt to the core, can't dictate much to anyone. Except militarily. The Soviets were brought to their knees economically, the same can happen to Russia. The system is rotten. And Putin had shown he won't fix the most fundamental problems the Russians have, which is internal. The US is not Russia's deepest problem. Russia herself is her own problem. Good luck with that diverse economy and all those new ideas.

For those of you who see a close alliance between Syria's Assad, Iran, and Russia:

Nothing is ever clear cut in this region. And religious loyalty cannot be excluded from a understanding of the situation.

Nationalistic countries by definition & practice have higher thresholds. American led sanctions are viewed by the natives as external attack.

Ultimately, even you would have taken 16 years of Putin instead of GWB & Obama. Now Putin or Hillary/Bernie/Trump/Bush?

I recognize that such power turns dangerous when leadership is reckless or sloppy but I have to give Putin solid support. No-way in 2000 would you have believed Russia being in this position of influence. Life after Putin might be ugly.

Current day biggest problem to Russia is NATO. I do admit Putin sees his tenure coming to an end in most likely the next Decade so he wants to set a strong foundation. "Rescuing Syria" would go a big way.

EDIT: American best days are during compe ion. Returning to Multi-Super Power climate is better
